Pirates are a common sight in many areas of Okodomos—they're even found in the Baseplates.
Existing since the dawn of time, they are a matriarchal "society" that lives upon colonization, glory, gold, and sea exploration. Sometimes, regular sailors and pirates become interchangeable terms—although pirates tend to be independent on their own, or ruled under other pirates,
while sailors tend to be regular voyages, fishermen, etc, who usually work under an existing government. Sailors don't usually have any ill intent or history, and are in fact often targeted by pirates.
Although most pirate ships tend to be manned and held by men, women tend to gain the higher statuses — with “Royals“ referred to by the epithet "Ezebel", referencing the first Pirate 'Queen' in history. Some Royals may also change their name to Ezebel.
The definition of Royal is fickle. a Pirate Royal is defined mainly by the amount of land, ships, and influence they hold over pirates. There can be several Pirate Royals in the world, but there can only be one Royal in a particular area.
Again, this title is usually held by Queens.
Despite pirates not being a definite society, they have common "traditions". For example some notable pirates hold family crests in their flag. Some pirates tend to adorn themselves in feminine accessories, and even makeup of specific shapes in regions is common.
It is also very common for pirates who achieved something notable to adorn bones as a symbol of status, whether humanoid or animal is their choice, most commonly a skull. Pirates have had differing relationships with different clans and communities for all of history.
This extends to the Korblox — more specifically, the Flux Reap and the Skull helm tribe in their early history.
Early records show that pirates have had a long standing record of trade and alliance with the Flux reap, trading valuable gold and equipment in exchange for powerful crystals or enchanted material.
The Flux Reap, of which have close knit ties to the Skull Helm tribe, have led an associative relationship between pirates and skull helm.
Although there are no clear definitive records, it is likely that the Pirate tradition of wearing skulls came from Skull Helm.
,,,They even seem to have a similar tradition of holding Noobs as slaves. While Pirates do not discriminate on who they capture, Noobs appear to be their top pick, likely due to the strong stature and adaptable characteristic of Noobs.
The administrative Dominion,,,, prefer to leave pirates alone.
As with all territories, the Admins have a strict rule of not interfering with outside relations that do not directly endanger them, their own people, or anything else associated with them.
All land that is not under jurisdiction of an admin is considered a free-for-all, with separate governments, smaller clans, or societies forming on their own separate from the admins.
Hence why pirates have remained untouched for millennia, despite the fact they're inherently dangerous.
