all of these are current regulations fault tbh. we're not celebrating drivers' talent anymore. and we don't have extraordinary racing. we don't even see real overtakes anymore. it's just grand prix after grand prix where some shit just happens like mechanical failure or penalties. and they try to make you believe that it's what formula 1 is about
no because why does every race have have a million dnfs. why does every start have someone stall. why are the overtakes just an endless yoyo of people running out of battery. why does every race weekend come and go and no one cares. why is viewership on the decline.
because the powers that be have decided that prioritizing money is more important than prioritizing talent and they don't seem to get that it doesn't matter if we are racing on the moon if the regulations take out all the excitement of it. exciting regulations with motivated drivers could race in an empty field and produce a more interesting race than the entirety of the 2026 season so far.
max might've had a bad day but my god he wasn't a bum
this race has just been embarrassing for everyone involved

Whatever Vonn needs, Mastrocola makes it happen. He looks after her motorhome, runs errands for the American, who loves egg dishes. He keeps pushy fans and journalists at bay. "But I'm also a plumber, carpenter, hydraulics expert, cook, masseur—a jack-of-all-trades." He's on the road between 250 and 275 days a year. In winter, he takes care of Vonn; in summer, he travels the world with Max Verstappen. The Formula 1 driver also has his own motorhome with two bedrooms, two bathrooms, a living area, a kitchen, and a sauna. A 32-amp outlet is essential so Verstappen can race against players from around the world on the simulator. "That also requires a top-notch internet connection."
But what Mastrocola particularly values is the personal connection he builds with the athletes. He likes to treat them to his homemade, freshly pressed apple juice. Verstappen swears by it. “Max drinks almost ten bottles of it in a weekend. And he wants chips from me. Those are his meals.” But Mastrocola is also the superstars’ first point of contact, motivator, and confidant in other ways as well. When Vonn suffered a painful crash in the downhill race in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, the South Tyrolean greeted her at the finish line and offered her words of encouragement. “I’ve been looking after Lindsey for six years now, and a deep friendship develops. She has to trust me; that’s part of my job.”
Mastrocola is one of many employees in the Red Bull empire who focus solely on the athletes’ well-being. He was originally hired by the then-boss, Dietrich Mateschitz, himself. Even today, his contract is signed with a handshake. For him, it’s not just a job, but a way of life. “It’s an honor. I always get cabin fever at home anyway.”
