It is sooooo diabolical for Armand to stalk Daniel and report back to Louis for 50 years just for Louis to giggle and bat his eyelashes and go “wait but what if we pretend we haven’t seen him since SF and invite him to interview us again while you pretend to be my maid” and Armand goes “sure babe but first let me steam my purple silk top and send the chef his favorite dessert recipe” like yeahhhh they’ve all been alive for too long and have completely lost their minds your honor

of course armand means it when he says he loves daniel, and i don't think he's intentionally manipulating him for any nefarious reasons, or at least i don't think it's the only explanation for armand's behavior. armand learned a pattern when he was trafficked as a child which was reinforced each time someone came along to disrupt his version of normalcy. marius who bought him from the brothel, the coven who stole him from marius, lestat who freed him from the catacombs, louis who freed him from the theater, and finally daniel who cut him free from his marriage. each time he adapts and allows himself to be claimed by those who bring change into his life. he doesn't even do it on a conscious level, this is just what he learned to accept in order to survive. he makes himself want it. daniel isn't the disruption of this pattern, he's the continuation of it.
