âdude, you just said it all. sheâs grieving. iâm not trying anything with her.â archieâs attention wasnât on anyone right now, so he knew it wasnât the time for anything with anyone. his answer said it all and gave archie everything he needed to know. âplus i think i remind her of jason.. so thatâs weird on my end.â he was always friendly with cheryl, he would even consider her a friend, so anything more with her would just feel odd in his mind. his hand moved to pick at the edge of the cast, clearly irritated about it. shaking his head, his eyes moved out to the ball being tossed around the field. âif something is to happen with a girl⌠itâll happen. iâm not looking to jump into anything right now. not after what happened last time.â he instantly bit the inside of his cheek, trying to hide the fact he had just said that. jake had no idea about what happened over the summer with archie, not many people did. and he wanted to keep it close to his heart. âiâm fine for now.â
Jake understood, but then he also didnât. Yeah, Cheryl was grieving but so was Archie. They both had their issues. Why not comfort each other? Jake wasnât talking about taking advantage of her or leading her on. Itâs called, friends with benefits, and most emotionally-unavailable people partake. âYou know, I got that vibe, too. I donât know if she wants a guy like her brother, or her brother.â There were rumors that Cheryl and Jason shared more than their milkshakes, but nothing was ever confirmed. Jake was willing to drop the subject, until Archie mentioned a âlast time.â Then, the boy was intrigued. Jake was good at reading people, especially friends, so when Archie tried to hide his reaction, Jake smirked. âWhat happened last time? You mean, when you kissed Ron-Ron? âCause she told me. Look, bro, if you canât play sports and you donât wanna get laid⌠what about some weed? You might write some bomb-ass songs while high, mi dude. I got some five-star sticky-icky back at the casa. Iâll even lay down some dope rhymes. Yo, me and my boy, archâ never parched, cause we always forecastinâ rain. Make it wet, wanna bet, leavinâ âem sheets with a stain. Yo, catch me on the court, my bro on the field, ghost face wanna stab me but my eyes are always peeled. Then you just start singing your melody as the beat drops.â
