the heretic was biting the inside of his cheek in attempts to keep his mouth shut. it would be obvious to a supernatural eye that he was the reason for her little mishap but to a mortals eye? it was nothing more than a accident. but, when it came to kai parker — nothing was an accident and everything was on purpose. it was clear that she had just been in the wrong place at the wrong time but, she had also done the right thing at the wrong time as well, sine he had caught him in a mood and all. a slow smirk gathered up at the corners of his lips as he passed by her to grab a stack of napkins up at the counter, returning only seconds later to hand them off to her. “ seems like someone’s having a bad day. “ ironic that those very words had left his lips before in the past, only it was for a entirely different reason. “ i would offer you a new drink but, broke college kid and all. “ lie. but, he had to keep up with the times in order to blend in.
she was drowning. drowning in her own anger, her own venom. seeing red was something she wish she was doing, literally instead of figuratively. the part of her that was violent, the all powerful lethal machine that she’d been created, begged to be released. it ran poisonous claws down her mind, hissed and slashed it’s tail. it paced, eager and hungry. wishing to be set free, to wreak havoc upon the idiot who had the audacity to disrespect her in such a way. visualizing how it would feel to have his blood coating her hands. just as sticky as the dragonfruit drink spilled on her fingers now, but oh so much more satisfying. but she knew what they did to the creatures that acted out, drew attention to themselves. knew that death would wait for her surely if she let herself completely go on rampage. knew too many eyes lingered on the embarrassing scene. knew there were no doubt a group of snot nosed brats sitting in the corner mere feet away from them, giggling and snapping pictures, capturing what they must have thought was the most hilarious and embarrassing thing they’d ever witness.
so that part of her remained caged as much as she could keep it with the little control she’d gained for herself over the months of being this powerhouse that she was. the only tell was the switch from brown to green in her eyes, one a stranger no doubt would miss unless paying close attention. but then again, most people would’ve missed that there was no way the little bump in with him could’ve caused such a spill. but she did.
with teeth bared, plastering on a deathly sweet smile, the girl simply took the napkins from him. her fingertips brushed the skin of his hand in the process, and she had to hold back the urge to cut him. just a little would be enough - tried as she may, and failed. hardly there claws scraped threateningly on the flesh. she just couldn’t help herself.
“lucky for you, I’m more than capable of taking care of myself.”
