Alicia and Nick Clark were polar opposites, always have been. She was the obedient, over-achieving daughter, and he was the drugged out, prodigal son. They moved in different circles growing up with little interest in understanding one another.

Alicia had always been jealous of her older brother. After all, how do you compete with the tragic, fallen boy everyone loves?

Nick had always been afraid to get too close to his younger sister. She was pure, untainted, and bright. She was going places and he couldn’t bare the thought of ruining her with his filthy lifestyle, so he stayed away, jumping from rehab to drug den, from recovery to relapse. It was an exhausting dance.

Then the end of the world happened. And now, for the first time in years, through the broken frame of tragedy and delicate lens of remorse, two people who couldn’t be more different, were opening up their hearts to each other for the very first time.

It was dangerous. It was beautiful. It was shameful. It threatened to consume them both.

Fanfact. During a fire in an oxygen-depleted environment, carbon is oxidized not into harmless CO2, but into carbon monoxide (CO), which is extremely poisonous. This is because CO binds to hemoglobin much faster and more firmly than oxygen, leading to its accumulation in the blood, resulting in hypoxia and rapid death. So Warren still couldn't exist in burning building for long because he still needs to breathe (as we see in the movie) and I guess carbon monoxide would be poisonous to him as well. I just love this natural limits even of super powers. (oxygen mask would help but it also has its limits).
