I have a lot of pet peeves but I think the biggest one is when people say things like “oh it’s such a small town, only 35,000 people” like bitch my town has 200 people, you need to pick a new adjective 

According to Wikipedia, a small town is 1,000-20,000 people. So although you are correct in stating that 35,000 people is not a small town (it is a large town), you are incorrect in thinking that you live in a town. You live in a village. You are a villager.

Hey dudes there’s a PSA on my dash which I wholeheartedly support, discussing the attitudes of the rpc re: lesbian characters and the disrespect they’re shown, with criticism that is 100% valid—but arguing that gay male characters are treated much better and loved for being mlm. I didn’t want to add this to the original post bc I didn’t want to derail the OP, but I did want to point out that we should try not to blur the line between actual support of men loving men, and the kind of fetishism that’s insanely common on Tumblr, in fandom, and in the rpc. Gay male characters are often ‘supported’ because people who AREN’T gay men like to use them as wank material. Often the seeming love/adoration of mlm comes at a high cost to ACTUAL mlm in our community who have to deal with seeing their lives and experience reduced, in essence, to masturbatory tools enjoyed by outsiders to their group. That’s not the kind of love and support I want for my lesbian characters or my own lesbian self, and I think we should try to be cautious about generalizing too broadly and erasing the struggles mlm face.
