bitter condolences

Manu looked down, nodding her head. “No, it’s not interesting, it’s stupid and you know it”, she shrugged, laying back on her chair. “I was terrified tho. I was a junior and I would leave in a year and you would stay here and I would loose you. And giving you that was the only thing that made my mind forget it. Promising you my love for a while, even if it was not the smartest thing to do”, she closed the box and took it back to herself, breathing slowly. “I’m sorry, for some reason I just wanted to show you that I am capable of this other shit too, I’m just not in the mood all the time”, she folded her arms,hidding the box again and feeling stupid about this whole situation. “I also got you a football ball, which I’ll never touch again cause that sport is a profanity”, she looked away, trying to change the subject. 

"That's because you have no idea how to play it nor do you know the rules. If only you knew, I'm sure you'd become the Patriot's biggest fan." He replied, letting out a chuckle right after the response. Taking the last sip of his beer, he sat up before looking at his watch and noticing that it was getting late. "I should go, before your date shows up."

She nodded at him, happy that she could still cook something properly. “I really don’t believe that anyone can eat a Hawaiian, for real”, she then saw him holding the box. “Please don’t freak out…”, she closed her eyes for a second and then looked at him again. “It’s a wedding ring. Don’t worry, I’m not asking you to marry me. But I got you one way back when we’re together and my plan was to ask you on this birthday. It doesn’t mean anything right now, but it didn’t felt right for me to keep it”, she shrugged, looking away, afraid of his reaction to the white gold ring with the words together for the best, on it.

Jacob was speechless as soon he caught a glimpse of the ring inside the box. He could not believe she was going to ask him to marry her. Looking back at the time they were dating, Jacob couldn't help but think they were too immature to do something like that. He tried to block the many thoughts that popped into his mind at that moment so he could find something to say to her. "I- I wasn't expecting this." He had never actually thought about asking her to marry him, he wasn't ready for that, not even if they had still been dating now. "Though this is a very interesting surprise." He faked a laugh on an attempt to break the ice.

”His girlfriend? Gosh I hope not. I mean, I would like to know If I was someone’s GF”, she took another piece of pizza and let it rest on her plate. “Is the pizza any good? I didn’t know each one to do for you”, she then took her purse back, opening it. “Well, I have something for you…” and then placed the a white little box in front of him, with a worried face on.

"It tastes great. Thank you." He replied, with a smile. "I'm addicted to pizza, anything would be good. Well, except for a Hawaiian, that would be terrible." His face turning into one of disgust before breaking into laughter. Surprised, he took the box from the table and opened it slowly, to reveal whatever was inside of it.

She clapped, felling excited about that. “So much fun! And so many ballons at some point”, she made big gestures with her hands, remembering the one time that she filled his room with ballons. It was a hard plan to come up with, since his frat house was full of men that didn’t like her. “A item? Shit no. We haven’t even fuck yet”, she explained her logic to him.

"Oh." He held back a laugh. Although he had gotten used to people thinking like that, it was still something Jacob didn't understand very much. Probably a personality trait, while some girls are more of the introvert, old-fashon type, there were others who were the complete opposite. Manu was more of the latter. "That does not you two aren't dating. What if he considers you his girlfriend?"

”I’m heading there for spring break, yes”, she had a warm smile on, remembering of her old days once again. “And please Jake, you know me, I always have a change of heart. But I might stay, if that’s what you’re asking. I mean, there’s this boy…”, she rolled her eyes at herself, knowing that this wasn’t the real reason, but trying to test this one on him. 

He sighed and rested his head on his hand. "I do believe that we have had a lot of fun." He let out a chuckle as he thought about the time the two had spent together. "I hope you have fun, then... Oh, so you and this so called date are an item?" He felt really excited and happy for her and he tried to make that clear on his tone.
