Do you have to remember every number? Why not just alphabetize stuff?
I have a few subsections memorized just because I'm more likely to find posts with similar topics (animals are in the 590s, sports and games in the 790s, magic in 133, etc.), but for the most part I use the website librarything.com/mds and my library district catalogue to find the relevant classifications.
Alphabetizing every non-fiction topic would put wildly different topics next to each other while separating very closely related ones. Dogs and wolves are on the opposite sides of the alphabet but are right next to each other in the Dewey Decimal System (599.772 and 599.773 respectively). Pigeons and Doves are the same animal (598.65), but would otherwise be on different shelves. It makes more sense to put algebra (512) next to geometry (516), or painting (75x) next to drawing (74x), than to put limes (634.337) next to lions (599.757) or literary analysis (801).

subject is to be kept in the same room as subject “Derek Hutchins” but please do not let subjects interact and speak to each other and keep him on his side of the glass.
symptoms: hallucinations, headaches, nosebleeds, nightmares and violent episodes

subject was found even more severely dehydrated and malnourished than subject Avery after finding his apartment.
status: same as subject Avery but subject is still to go under mental assessment and interrogations.
After being recovered by MDS agents Derek refused to cooperate with interrogators and staff.
