April fool, Kaz's favorite day besides Halloween. Pranks galore, only bad thing is, he's stuck in the Elite Force tower with the same 5 victims instead of the Mighty Med hospital where he had so many different people to prank.
Kaz frowned a bit, he wanted to prank someone properly. Oliver and Skylar knew all his tricks, Bree somehow just didn't really have much of a reaction, and Chase? Yeah that was always a no go, he could see the horrible fake paint- fake scary prosthetics, anything Kaz did Chase saw right through since he was the smartest man in the world.
Kaz's mouth quirked a little, an idea forming. April fools was tomorrow, he still had time to plan. He thought about it- thought about it some more… Chase struck his thoughts again. The man was a genius, if anyone could prank someone it would be him.
So there Kaz found himself, in mission command, 9pm at night, begging Chase to help him with his pranks. “Come on man! You don't know how much wasted potential you have!” Kaz was pleading a bit, bothering Chase as he tinkered on some random gadget Davenport had given him.
“Busy.” Chase responded keeping his head down, he didn't have time for these immature desires- sure the man had spent 16 long years in a lab, and never really had the chance to be a kid, but he still had his moments.
“CHASE PLEASE!” Kaz yelled, startling Chase a bit, making him drop his screw driver and covering his ears.
“Kaz, I have bionic hearing!” Chase snapped at him, ears ringing slightly to the random up in decibels.
“Im sorry, im just…” Kaz knew how to get what he wants, would he use it to guilt trip Chase? Absolutely. Would it work? Probably not. “It's been really hard ever since Mighty Med was destroyed. You saw how bad I struggled during Halloween- I didn't mean to hurt your ears.” Chase was now looking at Kaz who looked like a puppy who'd just been kicked.
Chase sighed, arranging his tools quickly then pinching the bridge of his nose. “Kaz… I don't know what you'd want me to do exactly,” Chase was trying to reason, slightly surprisingly feeling bad. “I don't know Oliver and Skylar well enough to know what would scare them- or even prank them.” He moved his hand while talking.
“What about Bree?” Kaz asked, hoping to hold onto some thread that Chase was feeding into.
Chase looked to the side as if he was racking his brain, which he didn't need to do as his thoughts came quicker than anyone else, filed in his chip. Maybe it's to seem more human. “Bree… growing up the only thing that worried her was not having a boyfriend.” Chase smiled at his own comment. Chase's face shifted again as if he got an idea, “I mean- there was this one time that a girl showed interest in me, which shocked the whole family. If you wanna prank them- find me a girlfriend.” Chase said sarcastically, rolling his eyes and snickering a bit.
Kaz thought for a minute, “Wanna make another android?” Kaz suggested.
“Never again. They'd probably just like you more anyways.” Chase picked up another thing to work on the device, Kaz losing any attention he previously had.
Kaz sighed, slightly in defeat. He wanted to stomp around sadly- he acts like a brat anyways. Kaz looked at Chase, racking his brain for any ideas.
It hit him, like that time Riker punched him square in the face.
Kaz let out a sudden noise, Chase knowing that means whatever gears he had left up there to turn had worked, effectively creating a light bulb. “This should be good…” Chase said sarcastically again as Kaz clapped his hands together looking a bit squeamish and cheeky at the same time.
“Chase, okay hear me out.” Kaz looked at Chase who continued to tinker with some robot, Chase nodded his head in response to signify he was listening. “What if we pretend to date- just for April fools! It would totally…” Kaz stopped speaking as Chase seemed to have stopped moving, pausing completely as if he wasn't sure what to do with himself.
Chase moved his head looking back at Kaz. “Uh…” is all Chase let out, straightening his back and looking at Kaz- confused?
Kaz laughed, a small snicker in shock. He'd never seen Chase look this way without superheros being mentioned- he never understood superheros. “I just think it would be a fun idea, imagine the looks on their faces!” Kaz was already plotting, a mischievous smile tugging at his mouth.
Chase was now slightly glaring at Kaz, it wasn't in malice, just confusion. He'd never had these problems until in the presence of superheroes. “You could just pretend to date Bree or something.” Chase sounded a bit dismissive.
“Well, I'm already here. Also, us dating? Yeah, that's outrageous enough to work.” Kaz reasoned. He noticed Chase's face didn't change. “Come on! Chase, ill do anything you want okay? I'll stop bothering you for a week- no- a month when you're working in here.”
Chase made a small hum sound, as if it was a tempting deal. “Okay, deal.” He said, reaching out his hand as for a handshake to seal the deal.
Kaz shook it. “Alright! So what I'm thinking…” Kaz told Chase a bunch of ideas, strategies, and plots that they could do to convince the group. Chase blushed a bit at the ideas, some a little intimate and probably way too far for a simple prank- but the way Kaz was saying the ideas piqued Chase's interest. Not because he was into it, he definitely wasn't. It was because he'd never seen Kaz so passionate about anything, Kaz took pranks very seriously and went into detail with his ideas and plans, it was admirable even. Kaz discussed pranks as if they were Chase discussing a mission plan or physics.
They spoke for about an hour as Chase worked, he found himself smiling at the silly ideas Kaz came up with to catch them off guard, Chase wasn't sure he could say no based on the pure enthusiasm Kaz spoke with. When they finished talking Kaz forced Chase to go upstairs and get some proper sleep, ending with the statement- “big day of pranking tomorrow, you need rest.” Kaz hopped to the elevator with an excited movement as Chase followed, a bit nervous for tomorrow.
Kaz might've also used a bit of manipulation when discussing the ideas- making sure Chase had known just “how much cooler” he was when not being leader, and how Kaz “enjoyed his friendship.” Yeah. Chase didn't have to know Kaz knew what he was doing, Chase was easy to play when it came to emotions. Kaz was harmless though, harmless as a fly. He smiled at Chase, continuing to yap his ear off as they went up the hyperlift and went to bed.
