Shut UP. Just SHUT! UP!

Whether or not you get the vaccine is a PERSONAL MEDICAL DECISION. No medical intervention is risk free, and each choice carries different risk factors and benefits for differing groups in the population.

The best you can do is inform yourself with research and statements from trusted health professionals, and go from there. A pregnant mother may decline the vaccine until her child is born, or weans from breastfeeding. An elderly man will get the vaccine ASAP to protect his immunocompromised grandchild. Some will avoid the vaccine until more research better explains possible benefits vs side effects, while others feel safer in taking the vaccine and work with their care provider to stay safe.

Maybe declining the vaccine means you are unable to attend certain events, due to the safety of vulnerable people there; or, if you take the vaccine, some friends may steer clear for a while because they haven’t made a decision on the safety of shedding from mRNA vaccines — these are normal social consequences. They should not be made out of malice or mean that people hate you. They are not a reflection of your moral achievements or lack thereof. It’s just MEDICAL DECISION MAKING!!!

Rian Johnson, The Last Jedi — completely ignored & disregarded the 3-film narrative arc J.J. Abrams has planned out for the sequel trilogy, and instead developed his own messy narrative full of subversions for the sake of subversion, and completely disrespected the legacy of Luke Skywalker’s character (Mark Hamill himself has reported several times that he doesn’t recognize the character).

Russos, MCU — give out fake scripts, actors play against green screens and are cut & pasted together in post, show fake/edited scenes in trailers, throw away previous character development (Thor, Ragnarok vs Infinity War and especially Endgame).

D&D, Game of Thrones — throw away a decade of foreshadowing and character development for shock value, not to mention they missed a whole ass Starbucks cup in a shot in 8x03 (either on set or in post, somebody should’ve noticed this).

I’m sick and tired of this. It’s not good writing, and it’s no longer entertaining to fans when the characters they know and love become complete strangers. There’s good shock value — “No, I am your father,” for example — and then there’s ignoring years of character development and turning a kind and caring character into a murderous maniac. There’s a difference, and I think writers still know what that difference is, but they’re pressured to create an ending that fans can’t predict because of this mass panic over “no spoilers”.

This needs to stop. Give me a happy ending. Who the fuck cares if we guess what comes next? That means the writers have done their fucking jobs. If we can guess what comes next that means the writers have successfully developed their characters and foreshadowed future events as you’re supposed to do in a well-written narrative.

This time around, in this newest episode we finally have TIMETAGGER (an episode I’ve been looking forward to for reasons)

My initial thoughts/theories for this episode was that this was an episode with future LB and CN potential… and well :)

LETS GET RIGHT INTO IT!

We start off with CONFIRMATION that the twins and Chris/Noel are indeed friends that hang out and play a lot. They’re The Three Musketeers you cant change my mind.

Then there’s #MarinetteforRapGod2019 . I stan.

Slim Shady better watch out

The fun gets cut short, of course, because of Mr. Pigeon, who keeps getting akumatized because he’s so attached to his pigeons… Pretty frequently it seems. Ladybug and Chat Noir can take out his akuma with their eyes closed. It’s nothing new. They even have an ice cream with him and have a one on one two? talk. Things were going so well and easily until… enter Timetagger.

This was “unforeseeable”.

Now let’s talk about this setup and why it matters (to me at least):

I know SW2 was meant to set up a halfway point to the show and demonstrate how things will change from then on… But I wanna talk about how this very episode executed what SW2 should have, and did a much better job in. In this episode we’re shown a villain from S1 who is now considered as “threat-less” when he once was a big threat. Even the people instead of getting to safety now stand close by as an audience. It’s far too easy now. Then suddenly enter a much more powerful villain from the future, and now they’re suddenly in for the big fight.

I just have to say that I thought that THIS was a good way to show that things will change (not a clipshow). You contrast a an old villain to a future one, which only seem to be getting more powerful overtime. Anyway that’s enough on that, moving on.

After the duo evades Timetagger and recharges, they run into Alix, and then marks the tying of some lose ends we had since Timebreaker (love the theme she has going with time btw. It’s a nice touch.) We learn:

The Rabbit Miraculous grants Time Jump powers. (I’m shook, like I really like it!)

The mysterious family heirloom wasn’t a useless high tech watch for its time, but a Miraculous in camouflage.

Alix doesn’t just get to be a holder, she’s been a holder the entire time. Right under our noses!!!

Bunnix most likely gave it to an ancestor to be passed down for generations as back up.

Seeing as the Rabbit Miraculous powers deals with time, it was a smart backup to do in the event her Miraculous was ever damaged.

Bunnix probably got herself trapped in the stone when her miraculous got damaged, Timetagger sent her back, and upon reaching the past she got frozen in time under a stone.

Alix is too awesome and “Minibug” hasn’t noticed yet. FACTS.

CONFIRMED ML LORE: The Miraculous can be placed in a camouflage mode.

Future Alix couldn’t give Chat Noir an answer on if they ever get together because to her they’re all over the place at all times. What I do gather from her answer, is that they’re so focused on hero work as heroes in the future that they most likely mastered keeping their civilian lives a separate secret.

On to facing Timetagger outside, Bunnix goes at it while using her powers for a lengthy time. Chat makes note of it only to be answered with “No, because she’s an adult.”

CONFIRMED ML LORE: Adult Holders don’t seem to require to recharge so soon after using their powers. Or maybe even don’t need to recharge?!?

(In other words it explains Hawkmoth being able to stay transformed.)

The fight continues but “Kitten Noir” gets impatient. He uses Cataclysm and almost destroys her miraculous a second time. Immature move, Kitty.

Lucky for us, Bunnix already saw it coming, and now we know how she got herself in the stone in the first place. Take this as a lesson, Kitty.

She managed to warp Timetagger back and things looked promising… Until her memory reminded her of a key point in time right before she “failed”. So Timetagger comes back and now our heroes are in an actual twist… Except Ladybug had an idea she knew would work in “the future”.

The Future:

Ladybug makes a false story that she’s sending an apology message to the future for failing and sends Bunnix back with a message… To an older Ladybug and Chat Noir who were already expecting it.

A plan from the past.

Side commentary: Adult Chat Noir? Nah. That’s BEEFCAKE NOIR for sure. Our boy probably picked up some workouts for photo shoots given that he’s still probably a model (or at least a celebrity of some kind.) Either way, he looks well. Ladybug also physically looks well. What doesn’t is that same basic costume, but you know, as this episode has said “the future isn’t set in stone.” I’ll just look past it for now. (They probably did that to clearly imply that it very much IS them as adults, any slight difference could only lead to thoughts that it’s different people, apparently lol.)

Back to our present day, Hawkmoth is finally living in the moment that he’ll get his wish in the future, only to be bursted with:

“There’s a Hawkmoth in my future. . But it isn’t you.”

(Mmmm, tea. Didn’t I say it would be interesting if Nathalie betrayed Gabriel and became the ultimate bad guy in the future to come on the last ML post I made? This cruelty tea is delicious btw.)

Hawkmoth is now the big sad to learn he won’t be in power for long.

Timetagger is close to getting the miraculous, but then the future duo steps in and helps out in disarming him. Victory once again from the past to the future.

Then we learn that the akuma was Chris/Noel the entire time, and has picked up rapping?? (My personal headcanon is that: Nino grew up to become a profesional DJ/music producer and his little brother helps him by providing any lyrics or vocals. It’s a cute idea, okay?) Anyways Bunnix is returned to her time and Paris is saved once again.

Meanwhile we catch up on Gabriel “the big sad” Agreste commenting how he’s not in power in the future and that he’s a failure now if only he recognizes that as a father. But then Nathalie comforts him that it’s probably not a failure… But perhaps a sign of victory…

(Nathalie, I’m on to you. I’m past “just thoughts” and am now full on theories with you)

Now on to concluding the episode, Mr. Remier is akumatized upset yet again and Marinette can’t babysit The Three Musketeers, instead Lila can.

Side note: If Lila wasn’t such a snake, she could actually be decent at story telling with kids and maybe even looking after them. Huh. Who knew.

Ladybug and Chat Noir have some more encouragement time with poor pigeon man and recommend he finds a new animal to look after. Pigeons just aren’t cutting it for him. After leaving they go over the wild villains they’ll face… Like Mr. Rat?

Who is that?!? Such a crazy name.

I wonder how that akuma’s origins even started…

Lol.

And that’s that.

Conclusion: This episode gave us Alix with a miraculous as well as explanation to her badass family heirloom, minor cameos of future Ladybug and Chat Noir, and overall some kind of progression. This is an episode I was looking forward to, and I’m glad it wasn’t handled as filler.

Hello Miraculers! You know him, you love him, he’s the number one hat wearing headphone using DJ boy, and it’s time to show him some love!

Due to the underappreciated nature of this character, I, ( @thelastpilot ) am now hosting the Nino Zine! This is going to be a collection of art and stories all about Nino Lahiffe, whether it’s about his adventures as a hero, his life as an awesome bro, or any AU you can think of! 

No matter what, it’s anything and everything Nino!

The creation period starts now and ends on August 7th, which will allow for a week long editing period until it’s final release on August 14th. 

The main rules are this: 

- The Illustration submissions will be 2480 pixels x 3508 pixels, 300 DPI in portrait mode. (Think a standard A4 piece of paper) Since it is going to be a digital only release and we’re not worried about being printer friendly we are going to go with RGB for the richest color on screen

- Written submissions must be spell checked and no longer than 2,000 words. If you’re over by a hundred or so I won’t bug, but don’t exceed four pages single spaced. I would like to avoid having to ask anyone to trim! So please stay within this parameter. 

- No unresolved Angst, no NSFW content at all, and it has to include Nino as the focus!

So, if you are interested and want to contribute please leave your username as a reply on this post and position you would like (Artist or Writer), as well as a place to find your work if possible! We already have the first wave of applicants and are now looking for the second, so once the second wave is decided invites will be sent out to the discord group, where most of the communication takes place!

Accusation #1: The Ninjago Zine rules were written to exclude LGBTQ+ ships and creators

There is a lot of discourse surrounding the various Ninjago ships, and yes that does include canon ones.  However, the canon ships are the ones directly depicted in the show, so restricting the zine to only canon ships seemed to be the best course of action and easiest way of moderating content.  Canon is canon.  No one was obligated to draw or write for ships if they didn’t want to, either.  Many still chose to.

There isn’t and never has been a rule excluding LGBTQ+ creators.  In fact, we had many LGBTQ+ creators in volume 1 of the zine.  Mod Bella and I didn’t look at race, gender, sexual orientation, or anything similar when we chose our applicants.  We looked at what we perceived to be the talent of the individuals alone.

Accusation #2: I have posted “Christian-centered negative views on queer relationships” on my blog

The accusation post stated that “it doesn’t take very long scrolling” to find the content in question, however the first listed post was 6-7 pages back on my blog.  Not quite the prevalence indicated by this affront.  The first listed post is this one:

It’s a simple post about how love doesn’t equal unconditional agreement.  No mention of the LGBTQ+ at all.  It’s not a direct attack the way the call-out post implied, but rather a truth that can apply to a myriad of situations.

Post 2: I can’t find the actual post now but the call-out post’s screenshot shows the whole thing.  This one is a Christian post (note: before we go further I am a Christian, as I’ve said many times in this blog.  If you want to automatically label me as a bigot because of my religion then that’s your choice, but that is the literal definition of discrimination), again talking about the difference between love and tolerance.  Again, a broad post which is not a direct attack on the LGBTQ+ as the call-out post claims.

I also cannot find post 3, but the whole post was screenshotted again.  This post talks about how our worth does not come from sexuality, people, things, etc.  This is the first explicit mention of sexuality, and it merely states that it isn’t what gives us our value– meaning that a straight person is no more valuable than a gay person, or vice versus.  Again, not an attack.

None of these posts show any hatred of the LGBTQ+, as the call-out post claims.

Accusation #3: I have “admonish[ed] calls for queer and racially diverse representation as attacks”

This is a half-truth.  I have admonished the spirit of many calls for LGBTQ+ and racially diverse representation, and how many harass writers and other content creators for not having enough diversity in their specific stories.

Notice how I DID NOT SAY “all stories should have only straight, white characters”.  I said “it’s okay if not ALL stories are diverse”.  Some stories don’t have a wide variety of characters, and that’s okay.  The point should be the STORY, not the diversity itself.

Looking back at this post, I do recognize that I may not have communicated the specifics of my point as clearly as I thought I did, but again, this was meant to make a point against how aggressive some people get when trying to convince writers to add gay characters (“make them gay, you cowards!”).  It was directed toward the hostility some people show on this subject.  It is not an act of hate against the LGBTQ+.  It is a point against the way some people choose to conduct themselves.

Nope.  Nope, nope, nope.  I did not say speaking out against oppression is itself silencing.  I said using the fact that you are a minority as a "get out of jail free” card is not okay.  Again, addressing a specific situation in a specific context.  It’s right there in the tags: “I’m not talking about threats/hate against a specific people group; I’m talking about those who respectfully disagree”.  I NEVER said speaking out against oppression was bad.  I said using minority status as a trump card to win an argument is bad.  Again.  Specific situation, specific behavior being called out.

Once again.  I do not hate minorities.  I do not hate the LGBTQ+.  I don’t even hate the people who chose to attack me like this.  Anyone who knows me can testify to the fact that I am NOT a hateful person.

Accusation #4: I am pro-life

This is the only accusation here that is true.  I am indeed pro-life.  If you’ve followed me for a while, you’ve probably seen my pro-life posts.  But let me elaborate a bit more on what that means.

I do not hate those who have had abortions, or even those who perform abortions.  Remember my posts about how love =/= unconditional agreement?  I disagree with their actions, but I do not hate them as people.

I believe that life begins at conception.  If this is true, then by virtue abortion is taking a life.  And I believe that taking a life – especially the life of one completely incapable of defending themselves – is morally wrong in almost every case.  This includes the case of abortion.

if you believe that abortion is murder, then what’s happening throughout the world is a targeted genocide of a specific group of people (babies– and in many cases the disabled).  With that context, it shouldn’t be hard to see why I believe this current situation is not so unlike the Holocaust.

There is also a reblog to the call-out post containing screenshots from the zine discord server.  I’m not going to go and refute them because they were posted with no context.  However, if you compare what they show to what I’ve said earlier, you will see that they are in keeping with my answers in this post.

I’m also going to add one more thing:  I am a Christian.  If you’ve followed me for any length of time, you probably know this already.  And Jesus himself commanded Christians to “love your neighbor as yourself” (Mark 12:31).  We are not to hate ANYONE, regardless of race, gender, sexuality, religion, or anything else.  We’re even commanded to love our enemies.  And throughout my life I have, by God’s grace, done my best to follow those commands.  I do not hate anyone.  My beliefs may sometimes put me at odds with others, but I do not hate them for it.  In fact, the reason for my outspokenness can easily be summed up by this post:

Now you’ve heard both sides of the story.  You know where I stand, and how I see the world.  What you do with that information is up to you.  You can shun me, you can boycott the zine if you like.  No one’s stopping you.  I certainly won’t.  That choice is entirely on you, and I will not hate you for it.  But I hope you will see through this that I truly mean no ill will toward anyone– despite these misplaced accusations.

CALLING ALL ARTISTS, WRITERS AND COSPLAYERS!

Want to show your love for Ninjago while also teaming up with others in the fandom? Now you can! We are pleased to announce that the Ninjago zine is back for a second volume!! 

What is a zine?

A zine is an event where artists and writers come together in a fandom to create works in honor of a show/movie/book/etc. In this case, we are creating a fan zine based off the animated series, Ninjago: Masters of Spinjitzu!

Vol. 2— What’s New?

In this volume we’ll be celebrating the many stories of the Ninjago universe.  The zine will contain a section for each season of Ninjago, from the pilot episodes through season 10, and each section will contain a handful of pieces that revolve around its specified season

How does this work?

-This is a Ninjago themed zine that will be a FREE, PDF download upon its release.

-We are looking to have between 50-60 content creators. However, if the zine gains popularity, this number will likely change.

-This is zine is Ninjago: Masters of Spinjitzu centric- meaning all the content will be will be based off the television series, and not the movie. As is the case, there will be no romantic ships outside of what is canon within the show (as we would like to keep this as discourse-free as possible).

-Also, since Ninjago is a children’s series, the zine will be SFW (Rated PG). Meaning, nothing outside the show’s scope of content will be allowed in this zine.

Application Requirements

Artists, writers, and cosplayers are to submit works that are SFW (if someone submits anything NSFW, they will be disqualified)

Artists are to submit at least three of their best works showcasing their style. Examples do not have to be Ninjago related.

Writers are to submit at least three of their best works showcasing their writing style and characterization. At least one example must be Ninjago related.

Cosplayers are to submit at least three of their best works showcasing their photography skills and costume design. At least one example must be Ninjago related.

June 8-9th:  Acceptance/Rejection emails go out

June 10th: Participants announced

Any person who has experienced real friendship would mourn such a loss like they’ve lost a part of themselves. To believe something like that -that the loss of a friend is inferior to that of a romantic interest- is unimaginable. Life is not this romance bullshit that Hollywood has been feeding you. Friends are not the substitute for girlfriends and/or boyfriends. And they do not fade away when you fall in love.

Honestly? I can think quite a few shitty so-called friends of mine, whom I would mourn more than all my former romantic interests combined.

Friends are the family that we choose for ourselves.

They are always there to have your back. They contribute to your thoughts, beliefs, morals, humour and even style. They help shape the person who you will become. They are the people who you trust with your secrets, things you can not even admit to yourself.

Think of that day-and-night-no-matter-what friend, the friend that you can call at 2 A.M. because you’re in the dark place, the person who you would call to help you bury a dead body.
