Reminder that it is not "The SOUL", the game has made it clear that it is "Kris's SOUL" and the fandoms insistence on continuing to refer to it as "The SOUL" is actively perpetuating one of the most longlasting assumptions.
For those curious it is refferred to as "Your SOUL" in 95% of instances (in the same way the narration would refer to anything Kris does or owns as "your") however there are a few exceptions.
The Battle Tutorial in Chapter 1 EXPLICITLY has Ralsei refer to it as Kris's soul.
And in chapter 4 some of the darkness battle "unleash" text also calls it Kris's SOUL
The Only, and I mean ONLY time it is every referred to as "The SOUL" is in the roaring knight fight after using the "Hold Breath" act, however its really obvious the wording is the way it is to tell the player "the SOUL you control in battle will move faster"
On top of that the Holiday household is filled with heart/SOUL shaped pillows that Kris used to chase Noelle around with while pretending it was their SOUL, a pretty clear indicator that even if a "colour change" did happen, it was long enough ago to not matter.
The red soul that we play as is Kris's soul, our connection to Deltarune is being relayed through Kris's Human SOUL, it isn't a "foreign object" or "forcibly inserted" it is Kris's SOUL, their will and their compassion.
