Narcissa smiled, it was beautiful. He was already afraid of what she was going to say even before she said, "Of course! I need a Maid of Honor don't I?"
"Maid of-!" Skull sputtered then paused as a thought hit him, "...isn't that Snape kid Lucifer's Best Man?"
The smile didn't so much as twitch, "Lucius, not Lucifer, cousin mine."
"I see no difference," he shrugged but hurriedly moved on when the band that separated the slimmer torso of the dress from the flowing skit tightened threateningly, "Doesn't the Maid of Honor and have to dance with the Best Man? And didn't Sirius badger an invitation for him and his friends?"
"Yes." she answered simply, "Turn to the right - slowly."
Skull did so, thinking.
He wasn't a hundred percent certain that his cousin was joking about him being the Maid of Honor, in fact since it was far more likely that she was serious about it. Or that, now that she said it, there is no way in all the hells that she would take it back so he'd be forced into that position all the same.
For a moment he considered trying to think about all the different reasons why she made this choice - because Narcissa was smart and devious so she wouldn't do something like this for only one reason - but by the time he got to three different possible reasons he decided that he was no made for that kind of twisty, multi-level thinking.
All he needed to know is that some part of her truly did want this, for him to be at her side when she was married. And that a part of it was that she wanted to embarrass him a bit as revenge for something he did at some point.

For some reason tumblr unfollowed me from you! I’ve got to read all the new stuff now, and I only found out you were active again from a vague curiosity to re-read some things that we wrote together! At least it means there’s now things to read!

and despite being the last one answered, you're ask popping up in my inbox - when i finally remembered tumblr existed - is what reminded me bout this au too so congrats on a lil more to read in fact... it might not be the season but how bout a trick (aka Angst) and a treat (aka Fluff) for you?
Trick
There are magics that are labeled as Dark, as Unforgivable, as Taboo. These days most people view those labels of the same class, that anything taboo is dark and that the darkest is unforgivable.
But that's not right.
There are some magics that are called Taboo not because of the evils that it could be used for but the cost it takes to cast. Often that cost ends up with someone dead or broken in some way - be it mind, body or magic.
What he cast had no name, it was no spell.
It was fear and desperation and willpower with love at it's very core. And when his reserves of magic faltered, his Flames roared to bolster his magic until he succeeded.
A life for a life, the saying goes. How the exchange is supposed to happen. One in return for one other.
Just one.
What are rules to a Black? What are restrictions to a Cloud? If Izar decided to rewrite everything so that those he loves could live, who could stop him?
And so time turned. The children he loved so dearly lived again, whole and unburdened by the things they would eventually face in the world. They lived and they had their entire lives ahead of them once more.
Yet, even though he succeeded, it was not without a cost.
Izar burned away his body to rewrite the world and with it burned out his magic almost entirely. His Flames only down to the barest flicker by the end of things. Because in order to give them a chance, he had to write himself out of the story.
Perhaps, he thought as he lets himself fade entirely after only last check of his family. Walburga was right in this case and I only ever bring bad luck... Maybe your lives will be better without me to drag you into trouble - Narcissa, Regulus, Sirius...

Izar held the little three year old Harry in his lap, the - currently - youngest Potter squirming to get up until he was distracted by a flicker of magic an floating stuffed dog in front of him. This wasn't the first time that Izar had the privilege to hold the little escape artist but it was the first time he did so when they were all free to be outside and in public.
A 'family picnic' was what Lily had called it after the demand was given for them to meet up together to celebrate the end of the war. To celebrate that we all made it out whole and healthy was the true sentiment though no one said it.
Closing his eyes for a moment he could hear the soft snores of Draco who had succumbed to his nap time far more easily then Harry and now was in a... well honestly it looked like a basket with a bed inside of it and a dark green dragon curled around the whole thing but Narcissa gave him a look and a raised eyebrow when he had called it a 'Bed Basket'. Thankfully the... bed seemed to have some sort of muffling charm to keep Draco from being disturbed as not too far away was James arguing with Lucius over quidditch teams.
(Politics, it had been decided during the planning stages, was strictly off limits during the picnic.)
He could hear Remus and Peter trying to draw a conversation out of the friend - partner? Narcissa had hissed questioningly to him and Sirius the pair had arrived, seeking out any gossip she might have missed - that Regulus had brought with him. Regulus had been whisked away by Lily who, apparently, at some point decided that it was her job to teach him how to cook without magic and he could hear her explaining the preparation that went into the food she had made in a tone that meant that there would be a quiz later.
Sirius laughed right next to him with Harry following suit a second afterwards and Izar opened his eyes, seeing now that the toy was no longer floating on it's own but being held by Sirius along with another that seemed to be acting something out for Harry.
"You know, Sirius," Izar said teasingly, unable to help the smile that formed. They were alive and they were together after everything. Today was a good day. "I think that James might be my favorite of your little group now that he helped make such a cute kid. Do you plan on having any for me to spoil?"
And then it was his turn to laugh though part of Izar couldn't help but wonder if the tease was so surprising to Jame too. But what other reason would he cut off mid-sentence in the middle of an argument?
Dragon Izzy pretends to be Draco's familiar and basically babysitting Draco and making sure he acts Civil,also the potential of everyone just making fun of Draco the Dragon Owner, would be very comedic
okay BUT consider, itty bitty toddler Draco stumbling across a sleeping dragon the size of a particularly large hippogryff and goes over to try to pet it only to get trapped and tucked under a wing to take a nap instead
If Izar got cursed before that Halloween imagine what James would do when he finds out:
1: His Idol got turned into a baby
2: There’s no way to undo it
3: His Idol is now stuck in the mafia
4: The leader of the cursed group CHOSE to get cursed/ sacrifice herself and the others who are NOT ok with this.
ooh yeah, james would be going THROUGH it for a hot minute but then i feel like he'd try to go all "hold my beer" to go and Have Some Words only to get forcibly sat on and stopped since it is not a good time to go pick a fight with the mafia when they are ALREADY fighting an evil magic man and his backup dancers
i DO think that it would instead lead to some furious research by the Potters and Marauders which would in turn end up making their own little Fix-It AU thanks to the Marauders being forced together on a single project with a single goal and the nostalgia of it all strengthening bonds (also Lily got tired of the suspicious side-eying and basically tied them up and FORCED them to have an honest heart to heart conversation together)
so like the Potters don't die, Peter doesn't betray his friends, Sirius remains free - unless we do a spin off episode where shenanigans occur to break him out of Azkaban - and Remus is not alone
Eldritch horror Izar is interesting but instead of making it sad let's say he looks like and has the abilities of one of his monsters. The only monsterous thing he does is try to eat Luce which that bitch deserves.
Consider, however, that the only thing Eldritch Horror!Izar does is try to drag all of his people into a hug at the same time.
What are tentacles for if not to hug every single person you're even vaguely fond of all at once?

Imagine, if you will, Skull getting cursed and his magic makes things go a bit weird
It doesn't happen immediately, no of course not, but eventually he makes his way to wherever he's staying and he tries to send off a message to his family. Tries using a spell, using a patronus maybe, and it goes wrong
What exactly are the results who knows?
Maybe Skull is truly deaged and becomes a young Izar once again, maybe he winds up having to grow up again and winds up in the Golden Trio's generation.
Maybe he winds up stuck in an animal form, maybe he becomes a were or a shifter or maybe he's just suddenly a dragon and oh shit my apartment is too small for this-.
Maybe he forgets, maybe his memories are locked away and he looses his family when all he can remember is that he was cursed and now things are missing.
Maybe Skull becomes the eldritch horrors that Izar Black used to create on accident, maybe he looses his humanity and becomes a monster.
Maybe he gets lost in time, in space, maybe he winds up a dimension hopper trying to find his way home.
Whatever is the result, it'd be interesting I'm sure.
what a time to think back on the idea of Sirius being a (semi) responsible godfather and not getting arrested but instead raising Harry with Izzy
(honestly, can you imagine going the entire mile and all the Blacks that are his just basically moving in with Izar and having domestically chaotic post-war retirement?)
How do the Blacks reward Tsuna for breaking the curse though? How does Tsuna react to the Blacks, the reward they give him, and the fact that the Blacks are related to Skull of all people?
I think that they would consider Tsuna an "honorary Black", with all the benefits that would come with that, as his reward? And Tsuna just. Despairs tht he somehow has connections to another foreigrn, shady family.
Currently it sounds like Tsuna would be the one to break the curse so how would the Blacks react to a muggle breaking a curse that they couldn't and also would they reward him? If so how? ?_?
Part of me sees some going through mental hoops of "disproving" Tsuna's muggle status. Because clearly having Flames - soul magic? - means that Tsuna is Definitely Not a Muggle

I saw mention of a war between the strongest 7 and the Blacks and Skull going back and forth between them and I gotta disagree. The 7 would loose Skull to the Blacks who would put up protections that wouldn't let muggles through without.... injury... I think you mentioned that Mammon is the only one besides Skull that isn't a muggle but TBH why would they care about Skull? Getting him back doesn't sound like it would make Mammon money.
I.... was gonna reply differently but, honestly, right now all I can think of is Mammon basically signing "guardianship" of Skull away to the Blacks, charging them for it also...

I was just about to bring it up! In which Sirius goes fuck I gotta give this baby to someone and Izar conveniently left him a portkey or comm-mirror for emergencies. Sirius is never arrested cuz Izar goes "be a responsible godfather". Joke's on him cuz Sirius knows jackshit about babies and Izar ends up with 99% of the child rearing?? And he's lost? Babies are small children right? Is he supposed to have teeth? He's hissing at grass is it normal? Everybody laughs at him and no one is helping
Izar, in bed and barely awake: wait. why is there a baby? why are you invading my bed what time is it
is it odd that I am attached to the idea of Izzy adopting people.
He doesn't mean to but Sirius showed up with a baby and no idea what to do. Then Remus came, furious and grieving and betrayed and needing to be calmed. Charlie showed up one day, chasing stories of his school days. Then Harry kept dragging kids over like he's trying to create an army.
