Honestly the obligatory bloke-from-alt-J-moaning-things vocal line still feels like the most unneeded part of each track. Maybe not a great sign for a remix album. As a trans-continental mixtape of other producers & rappers, though, it works.

Tonight’s album: Built on Glass by Chet Faker (2014)
Nick Murphy has a new one out this year-- first in half a decade-- but I started listening to it tonight and I’m not sure I’m into it. And I’m too tired tonight to handle critical thinking or open myself up to potential disappointment. So I just flipped back to the last one-- this one-- like a coward.
Maybe tomorrow.
Tonight’s album: SB#3 by Gramatik (2010)
... and, we’re back. No preamble, other than to say I’m back at a point in my life where I feel like I’m in a stable rhythm. My professional life has a lot more to manage than when I first started this music blog in 2011. All the more, it makes me want to have someplace where I can log on at night and blab about things of zero consequence.
Anyway: Gramatik. The SB stands for “street bangerz”, but these are mostly pretty chill. “Muy Tranquilo” is the best jumping on point I’d say. Homestuck/Undertale vibes, though I’m guessing its more a case of those vg soundtracks cribbing from the same ‘90s-’00s NYC acid jazz scene that Gramatik rose out of.
