I am not hugely up on the Lore but he just strikes me as a character who's like. Experienced a devastating amount of loss. And like 50 different wars. And he's like 'nah I'm going to be a force for goodness & gentleness in the world. Everyone welcome in my house.' I love him

That’s exactly it. His twin brother chose to become mortal, he’s had to watch generations of his brother’s descendants be forced to live as Rangers in the Wild, mistrusted by everyone. And his own wife was captured and tortured by Orcs, forcing her to sail into the West for healing. Not to mention he partially blames himself for the Ring not being destroyed 3000 years ago.

He lost his parents too iirc

That's why my favorite description of him is "as kind as summer." To have gone through everything he did and be a person of kind warmth and gentleness makes him one of my all-time best loved characters.

I see some of y'all complaining about static and/or wanting nice smelling laundry. Go to a craft store, find 100% wool yarn balls. If it doesn’t come in a ball, ask an employee to make it into a tight ball for you. Wash in the washing machine to make it felted. Remove from washer, add a few drops of essential oil to the ball, allow to seep in. Dry with clothing. Doesn’t need to be rewashed ever, and if it stops smelling, add few more drops of essential oil. Bam, reusable dryer sheets.

really it is wild that sign language exists and is perfectly accessible and yet its not a taught second language in schools

yeah you can use it under water and in situations where u need to be silent and thats all cool and everything but you can also use it to talk to deaf people which is more than enough reason already. just let sign language be an option in schools.
