onto the actual ask, my band in my teen fame dr is called [CATACLYSM] ! (yes it needs to be styilzed like that)
we decided on that name because 1. it sounds cool, and 2. we wanted to be the kind of band to provoke and leave an impression whether good or bad, and what better way to do that than naming ourselves after catastrophes?
[CATACLYSM] is a diverse pop-punk band formed in san francisco, california. its lineup consists of lead vocalist and guitarist kalani barbieri, drummer diego rojas, lead guitarist derrick okoro, and bassist matt huang. the band's musical style is marked by barbieri's blending of high pitched melodic singing with angry post hardcore screaming and rojas' sonic improvisation, due to frequently forgetting the notes, resulting in the songs sounding quite different each take.

၇୧ ⠀ᅟ𓈒⠀ MATT HUANG ⠀( b. 2. dec 2010 ), is the lead bassist of [CATACLYSM] and the original founding member of cataclysm, us two being the reason it even exists today.

matt huang grew up in san francisco, california to immigrant parents descending from hong kong wanting to seek greater political freedom from china. he grew up alongside his parents and his younger brother, nathan in the US and rarely heard his mother tongue spoken in the house due to his parents practicing english with each other, resulting in him not being as fluent in cantonese as he would like to be.
how did he get introduced to the band? me and matt were online friends before the band formed, the idea just being a fun concept that we didn't think would ever become real before we actually met up irl and just started playing around with words and instrumentals in his garage, it was then we realized it wasn't just a silly dream.
⠀၇୧ ⠀ᅟ𓈒⠀ DERRICK OKORO ⠀( b. 17. dec 2009 ), is the lead guitarist of [CATACLYSM]⠀
derrick grew up in san diego, california as the only boy out of six children. he was raised in the suburbs, but frequently spent time downtown with a few of his friends, the group being a "bad influence" but nonetheless introducing him to the punk ideology and music style. derrick, being a wannabe rebellious preteen, acted out against his (loving) parents and family since he thought that was the way to be "cool", though he quickly grew out of that phase.
how did he get introduced to the band? derrick was matt's classmate from his music elective who he had a tiny friend-crush on, matt decided to build up the courage and ask him if he wanted to be apart of the band after me and him had a debate about me not being able to focus on both singing and playing guitar, to which he obviously said yes.
၇୧ ⠀ᅟ𓈒⠀ DIEGO LÉON ROJAS ⠀ ( b. 8. april 2010 ), is the lead drummer of [CATACLYSM]
diego rojas grew up in humahuaca, argentina with his father and his older sister valentina, his mother having walked out on them after realizing that wasn't the life she wanted, being a wife. majority of diego's life, he was bullied for his ADHD without yet being diagnosed, not being able to work out what was wrong with him or why he always felt so different compared to the others in his grade.
when he was eight, his father revealed they were going to move to sacramento to live with his uncle after his family was going through a financial crisis, unable to support both diego and valentina on his own.
how did he get introduced to the band? diego was at one of our early shows, where we were seriously short-handed and had me playing guitar and derrick playing drums ( which was NOT a good idea ) and afterwards he came up to us and asked if we were interested in having another member. it turned out he'd been looking for an excuse to join a band anyway, his girlfriend having mentioned she thought musicians were hot. me, matt, and derrick decided that that was enough of a reason to let him play with us.
