If it *were* about protection they would look at the way rape and assault cases are investigated and taken to trial, they would address issues of safety of women in general, they would address misogyny and sexist systems. They wouldn't put the blame for these systemic issues on trans women as if they were in charge for millennia while heterosexual, cisgender men are given a free pass yet again.
