jack zimmermann is one of those people you don’t realize you’re friend friends with until he does something ridiculous like collect all your notes and assignments without being asked when you’re really sick or insists on picking you up from the train station at midnight so you’re not spending money on a cab or stuck there until the buses start running and then when he does these things you realize woah zimmernelly this dude and I are ride-or-die now I gotta officiate his wedding or give him my kidney and that’s how it is between the two of you until the end of time.

Like I know we spend a lot of time focusing on Bitty’s relationship with his mother and how their mannerisms are parallels, but this?? Like can you imagine little Dicky Bittle looking up to his father as a young boy thinking “This is how a man treats the person he loves,” and imagining that one day he would love someone that way. That he would come and call them sweetpea no matter how hard his day was and kiss them on the head genuinely ask about their day and their mood and their life. Bitty is his mama’s boy, but he has always wanted to be the kind of husband his father is.
