get 1/2 cup of butter and 1 1/2 cup of heavy whipping cream together in a big skillet. let that shit simmer on medium-low until the butter is melted.

let it simmer until bubbly, then reduce to low.

here's when start adding shit for flavor. non-negotiable: 2 tsp minced garlic, 1/2 tsp salt, 1/4 tsp black pepper

heavily recommended additions: roasted paprika, crushed red pepper flakes, thyme, just really straight up whatever else you think would be tasty in there. measure that shit with your heart.

once you've got all that shit stirred in there, throw in two cups of shredded parmesan. you can also use freshly grated I don't care live your life, just don't use the shitty canned stuff. there's a time and a place for everything but this is not the time and place for that.

anyway throw the cheese in and stir THOROUGHLY on medium-low until there are not more giant honking cheese clumps in your sauce.

after that just watch her simmer and keep giving her regular stirs until she's as thick as your heart desires. be!!!! patient!!!

add to your noodles and serve immediately. obviously you should also have been making pasta during this process, unless you're some kind of sauce pervert who's going to just chug it solo. whatever!
