For the things I wanted to say but didn't:

We broke up. May last year. On a random Wednesday.

I can't say honestly that I wasn't bitter because I was, for a time. I hated that I held on to the promises you kept making towards the end, even when I knew, somewhere deep inside, they already got worn out and loose, their meaning slowly diminishing, even before you went out to say that it wasn't working anymore.

There was a time, after the split, when all I could see, hear, smell, and feel was you. Ironic because how can my senses be filled with something, someone, that has long gone and left? A ghost, haunting me.

And there was a time when my chest felt hollowness, and I was surrounded by eerie deafening silence, and the glaring and numbing reminder of the absence that was once filled with warmth.. with love.

Occasionally, I stumble on a photo or a clip, hear a song, smell a familiar scent, hear a voice and there is still that tiny me that takes me back from 2020 to 2023 making my throat close up, my feet to pause, my neck to whip around and find the source.

But now, looking back, I just remember the good parts. I guess, at that time, we were indeed meant to find each other. And I guess, we were indeed lucky, but luck has a tendency to run out.. and I guess, ours did.

That's not to say that I am not grateful because I am. I am grateful for getting the chance to know the person that YOU were, for sharing the experiences and memories we had, and for the painstakingly slow process of healing.

I got to know myself better because of this.

I am grateful for you. And I'll always still root for you.

and now, I'll be moving past you.

Today, the first tear fell as I closed the door. I leaned against it and let out a heavy sigh.

This fucking hurts.

I took a deep breath first before moving to the kitchen. I scanned the fridge before pulling out a can of beer. I picked up the sweater you left at my place about 11 days ago.

Typical… it still smelled of you.

I pulled it over my head and wore it over my shirt before sitting on the couch.

My mind was plagued by every little thing that reminded me of you. I grabbed the mallow plushie you won for me on our first date when we went to a carnival. There was a photo of us on our first anniversary.

It was a Sunday and you took me out on a picnic date because you remembered how I used to spend my Sundays reading under the cool shade of a big tree at the local park.

I took another swig of the beer and looked away. Then, I grabbed my bag and managed to head upstairs to the bedroom. I took off my shoes and quickly went to the bathroom.

I caught a glimpse of my reflection as I passed the sink. My skin was paler than usual. I lost a bit of weight and my cheek bones stood out. My hair was a mess but my eyes were the worst.

I turned on the tap and sprayed cold water on my face repeatedly until I felt numb. I went back, grabbed my phone and crawled into bed, hiding under the covers. I was looking through some old photos of us on my gallery.

I paused and looked at my favorite photo of you. It was just an ordinary day. You picked me up from work and walked me home just like you did every time you were back in town and you had a week off.

I sneakily took a photo of you as you laughed when I shared a joke my colleague told me at work. You were laughing so hard your eyes looked like they disappeared. The sun was setting and it gave you a warm glow.

It almost felt like a movie scene if you hadn’t tripped on your own two feet. I smiled as I remembered how you sulked when I laughed at you for being such a klutz.

I swiped through a few more pictures of us before deciding to call it a night. Then, I saw a video thumbnail of you that I haven’t seen before. It was probably buried on my camera roll. My heart sank when I heard your voice again as I pressed play.

“Three years. We’ve been together for three long years but to be honest, for me it felt shorter. We’ve been through a lot. All the ups and downs. All the times I thought that I would give up… that you would give up… but we always pushed through. Each time learning to love each other more… understanding each other better. I thought we’d still have more of that… unfortunately we don’t.”

You wore my favourite hoodie. Your dark hair tousled. Your tired eyes crinkled when you gave the camera a sad smile. Even though you had an IV injected at the back of your left hand, that didn’t stop you from reaching for the guitar beside your bed. You began playing a few strings and cords.

“I know a song won’t suffice, but I’m singing you one anyway. I know how much you love hearing my voice even though I sound like a dying whale….which I am by the way.”

I chuckled bitterly at your silly joke.

Even when you’re not here, you still manage to make me laugh.

“We could leave the Christmas lights up ‘til January. This is our place. We make the rules. There’s a dazzling haze, a mysterious way about you, dear.”

You looked back at the camera while you sang the next lines.

At that moment,

I never wanted something impossible to happen so bad.

Even when my voice cracked, I sang the song with you. Ours was my favorite duet.

“Can I go where you go? Can we always be this close forever and ever? And ah, take me out and take me home. You’re my, my, my, my...”

Your hands shook so you paused your strumming. I can see that you were trying to be brave, to be strong for me, for us.

Darling, you were… and you were so much more.

“You’re my, my, my, my lover.”

That night, I went to bed wishing I’d meet you in my dreams.

And I did..

And I was so happy..

even though it was the last time.

“My Merry Little Christmas”

(I wrote this for a writing class and our professor told us to write a short story about Christmas. I’m no J.K. Rowling but I did my best. Hope you guys appreciate it.)

Cassandra Payton is a woman of ambition and hardwork. Ever since she was a child, her parents already taught her to dream big and work hard for her goals. She grew up with no less than two bestfriends: Tina, her bestfriend since highschool and Clyde whom she just met sophomore year in college. Every Christmas since she moved to New York, Cassandra's evening would always be accompanied by her two bestfriends. They would lounge in Cassandra's apartment where they held their little party with champagne and classic movies. This year's Christmas is different though. Tina just tied the knot with her boyfriend of three years so she would be spending Christmas with him and his family in New Jersey. Clyde was away for a business trip in Paris and was probably spending his night with a hot french guy. So yes, Cassandra was left to her own devices for the weekend.

She came home late that Friday night from a busy day at work. She was walking towards her apartment door, juggling folders with her left arm and rummaging in her bag for her keys. She let her things crash on her kitchen counter before she opened the fridge door. She mentally made a note to go grocery shopping sometime soon because her fridge only contained a box of milk, three eggs and a few apples. She took the box of milk and got a glass from the kitchen cabinet. She poured herself milk then went to the glass windows in the living room. Outside, the city's streets were bathed in white as it continued to snow. The scene reminded her of the time when she and her parents played in the snow when she was much younger. Blinking the sudden tears that welled in her eyes, she was pulled out of her daydream. She sighed and wiped the evidence of her pain from her face.

Her parents both died in an earthquake that happened in Boston. That was two years ago but the pain still remained. It ebbed at her core the first six months after the incident. The six months after that, she was numbed. During the day, she'd pour herself to her work in hopes of forgeting her personal problems even just for a while before she will have to face them at night when everyone's gone to bed and the world was silent. Tina and Clyde became her foster family. They always welcomed her to their home whenever she didn't feel like going home to her apartment. They have always accompanied her just so she won't feel alone.

Cassandra shook her head as if to shake away her thoughts. She set the glass back at the kitchen sink and went to the bathroom to clean up then prepared herself for bed. The next morning she awoke with a decision already in mind. She got up, got dressed and called in sick for work. She double-checked her things then went outside, where she parked her car last night. The drive back to Boston was a blur. It was already half past three when she arrived at the city. She hadn't realized that she had already pulled up at the front of the same grocery store she and her parents used to go to when she was much younger. She tucked her scarf in her winter coat and pulled the coat tighter to her body to fight off the wind. As soon as she got inside, she was greeted by a familiar voice.

"Cassandra, why, Its been ages since I last saw you," said Tom. Cassandra turned to see an old man, about her father's age, beaming at her. Cassandra smiled at him and said, "It's good to see you, Tom. I just need to buy a few things and I'll be off." Tom nodded then gestured for her to pick up a basket on his right. She went between the aisles, turning her head and noticing the little changes that have been made since she left. She didn't dally any longer as she picked up the goods she wanted. When she went to the counter, she saw Tom frown as if confused.

"Do you mind me asking you something, Cassie?" Tom used her nickname. She shrugged and gestured for him to continue. "Will you be spending Christmas here? Alone?" he said with hesitation. Cassandra gave him a small smile and said, "Yes, I'll be spending Christmas back at my parents' old house. " Tom simply nodded as he finished scanning the price of the last good from her grocery. She handed the exact amount of money to Tom. She proceeded to grab her bags, wished him a happy Christmas then went back to her car. Her home was only a ten minute drive from Tom's old grocery store. As soon as she pulled up on the driveway, she felt nostalgia creeping in. She fought back the tears that again blurred her vision and cleared her throat, steeling herself to do what she was supposed to do. She unloaded her grocery bags and placed them gently on the floor as she bent down to pick up the key from under the welcome mat.

Her parents' home was pretty much the same as she left it. The different pieces of furniture were covered with white sheets to shield them from the dust.The once warm and cozy house was now eerie, vacant. Cassie picked up the bags, closed the door and went directly to the kitchen. She begun preparing the meals she meant to cook for tonight. After a while, she went to the sitting room and played a song on her father's stereo. While she left the chicken to roast, she cleaned the dining area and washed a few plates and utensils. An hour later, the oven beeped just as she had finished setting the table. She took the chicken out and placed it at the center of the scattered dishes on the dining table. She made sure to place two extra plates, two sets of utensils, and two wine glasses on either side of her on the table before she finally sat down. She poured wine to the three glasses and raised hers as if to do a toast. She then began to load her plate and ate, with only Karen Carpenter's voice for company.

A while later, after clearing and washing the dirty dishes away, Cassie poured herself another glass of wine and went back to the sitting room and sat at the couch. She already packed the leftovers and put them inside a paperbag she found in one of the kitchen cabinets. She sipped her wine as she listened to The Carpenters' christmas album. The next song that played reminded her of her father's christmas lullabies when she was little.

"Christmas future is far away," came Karen Carpenter's voice as the music floated in the room. Cassandra found herself staring at the snow frosted window and the light drizzle of snow outside. Her gaze then landed on a few photographs, lightly covered with dust, that still sat at a shelf. She saw a photograph of her on her sixth birthday with chocolate icing mustache. Her parents were grinning at her at the back of a high chair where she stood. "Bringing joy that will last," the song continued. There was another photograph of her with her mother. She was about nine years old. They were having picnic and her mother was in mid-surprise as Cassandra unknowingly spilled her orange juice on the blanket beside her mother's leg. There was another photograph of her on her high school graduation day. There was another when she got her first job and another when--

Cassie's throat began to constrict as she continued to recall some of her memories. How she envied her younger self in the photographs. She looked so uncaringly happy, as though nothing in the world can make her sad. She sighed and sipped her wine one last time before she turned the stereo off, shrugged on her coat and got ready to leave. She left the lamp on outside so it wouldn't be too dark when she gets back. Then, she went to the car and drove away.

This part of the town was always quiet. She parked her car across the church and walked towards the left side of the old structure. The wind felt colder here so she pulled her coat closer to her body. Flakes of snow clung to her hair but she paid it no heed as she continued to trudge in the snow. Her footsteps left a trail behind her between the long rows of headstones. Finally, she came to a stop in front of two headstones and crouched between them. She wiped a stray tear and traced the names on each headstones with her cold fingers. Then, she sang, "And have yourself a merry little christmas now."

Hi! Does this fic sound familiar to anyone? Voldy wins/war continues, Hermione is a captive. She lives in Draco's room & he makes sure the door is always locked while he's away to keep her safe from the other DEs. Hermione escapes through a laundry room (Draco helps her?) and there is a house-elf present in the story who, upon the escape, is revealed as one of the Weasely twins (or something) in disguise. Because sometimes I can’t help but think about how trapped Draco was. Just a little Dramione one-shot

A harried looking Professor McGonagall woke her in the middle of the night and she was instantly alert. When she realized that her head of house looked not just annoyed but also rather scared she went from concerned to terrified. Anything that could frighten the formidable older witch was certainly something to worry about. It was only her first night back at school from the summer holidays but that didn’t mean much. Merlin, Harry had already had a rather disastrous run-in with Draco, anything could have happened in the hours she’d been asleep!

‘Malfoy,’ she corrected herself silently, as soon as she thought his first name, ‘you have to call him Malfoy, even in your head, neither of you can afford a slip up,’ she continued to chide herself.

After she’d pulled on her school robes- it was already too cold in Scotland at this time of night and inside this drafty castle to even contemplate traipsing around in her pajamas- she followed her professor quickly out of the dormitory, scurrying to keep up with the taller woman’s longer strides. McGonagall didn’t seem to notice her struggle and Hermione’s concern ratcheted up another notch that the formidable professor was so uncharacteristically flustered. She’d asked her what was going on but McGonagall had remained tight-lipped and had only said that she was needed immediately in the headmaster’s office. Her stomach churned with anxiety but she followed along without further comment.

“Acid pops,” McGonagall said briskly when they reached the gargoyle that guarded the Head’s office, barely pausing her stride; it leapt aside and Hermione followed her up the spiral staircase.

The door swung open automatically when they reached it and they both stepped inside. Hermione quickly looked around hoping for any clues as to why she’d been summoned. But invariably her eyes landed on one thing and one thing only, the person whom she’d never been very good at avoiding no matter how many times they agreed it was for the best. The object of her nearly obsessive thoughts for the past few months when she’d been unable to see him: Draco Malfoy.

He stood off to the side just feet away from her looking, well, terrible. His posture was hunched, his robes were askew, and his usually perfectly styled hair was mussed. It was like he sensed her eyes on him, he immediately turned to look at her, and the amount of pain she saw reflected on his face had her gasping out loud.

“What’s wrong?” she croaked before she could even remember that she wasn’t supposed to care about Draco and what might have happened to him.

She had little time to worry about that though, as he was quickly closing the space between them. And then, in a move she wouldn’t have expected from him in a million years, he fell forward onto his knees before her. Ever so carefully he reached for her, obviously expecting to be rejected, she automatically took a step toward him, and as if it was the most natural thing in the world his hands cupped her hips and his forehead came to rest against her abdomen as if in supplication. It was more than she could take.

“Sweetheart,” she blurted, “please tell me what’s the matter,” she insisted.

That got his attention as it was something they’d never allowed themselves- terms of affection- certainly no pet names. But damn it all, he was, a sweetheart and hers even if nobody else knew it, and she couldn’t stand to see him like this. His head had snapped up and he was staring at her now, his face was open and raw with an emotion she couldn’t name, but which made her heart ache.

“I know you can never forgive me, but please know how sorry I am,” he begged, sounding not at all like himself, his usually strong voice was raspy and strained.

“I don’t think there’s anything I wouldn’t forgive you,” she answered with raw honesty.

“This is unforgivable,” he sobbed.

Sobbed.

Draco Malfoy was kneeling on the floor sobbing. This was as bad as it could be. And that’s when something clicked in her brain.

Harry had been insisting for weeks that he was a Death Eater. She’d been sure it wasn’t true, had known he didn’t want it and he was far too young anyway. Sure, he had been acting strangely, but his father was in Azkaban and that fact nearly killed him; strange behavior was to be expected. It didn’t mean he’d been marked. What use would Voldemort have for a schoolboy?

Now she knew with agonizing clarity that she’d been stupidly naive. Voldemort had been fighting this war using children for years, did she really think a madman would hesitate to use those who were supposed to be on his side?She’d been so worried for Harry, the boy who needed her, that she’d forced herself to push away her worry for Draco, the boy who wouldn’t accept her help. She’d longed for him, but she’d told herself he was safely ensconced in his ancestral home with his mother and that no harm would come to him there. More than naive, she’d been delusional.

She clutched him to her for a moment and then she took his left hand in both of hers. He didn’t fight her as she began to roll up his sleeve. She’d known what she’d find underneath and yet the sight of it still made her heart stop and then break completely. There, in ugly contrast to his beautiful pale skin, was the Dark Mark. The skin around the hideous tattoo was red and inflamed, it looked infected. Her horror turned to concern.

“Are you in pain?” She exclaimed.

He nodded.

“But what the hell does that matter? Why are you just standing there? Don’t you know what this means? Why aren’t you kicking me or cursing me or both?” He moaned desperately.

She frowned at him.

“Why? So that you can hurt more than you’re already hurting? Of course I know what it means, and that’s why I’m so disgusted that it’s on your arm! Because I also know you. Your heart is good and your soul is pure and if you were really the kind of person who believed in what this meant I can only assume that you would be out celebrating your ascension into the ranks of the Dark Lord’s elite army and not here sobbing at the feet of a muggleborn witch!” she finished practically yelling at him, insulted on his behalf.

How he managed to be both the most arrogant and most self deprecating person she’d ever met she doubted she’d ever manage to fully work out.

“I’m so happy to hear you say that Miss Granger,” a voice interrupted.

They both startled and turned to face their headmaster, having completely forgotten that they had an audience.

“Is it safe to say that your relationship isn’t quite as contentious as you’ve led us to believe in the past?” he continued sternly, but his eyes were twinkling wildly and there was a quirk of amusement on his lips.

Professor McGonagall and- Hermione was even more startled to see- Professor Snape stood to one side of his desk staring at them with expressions of utter shock on their faces. Dumbledore kept talking, like he wasn’t being soundly ignored by the other four occupants of the room.

“Perhaps you could take a seat and we can discuss what to do about this?”

Hermione finally gathered her wits, nodded, and extended her hand to Draco who was still on his knees before her. He looked at her dumbly and she gave him what she hoped was an encouraging smile.

Hermione extended her hand towards the boy- man- she’d secretly loved for years now. “I think the cat’s officially out of the bag, you might as well let me help you up.”

He took her hand and immediately entwined their fingers, but refused to allow her to give him any assistance as he climbed up off of the floor. Somehow, she didn’t think that boded well. She knew he was strong and proud, but he was in deep and he was going to have to learn to accept help.

Draco Malfoy wasn’t a crier. He was stone faced and he was smug looking. He was smiling a lot more lately. Smiling at the small moments in his friends lives, such as when Blaise finally asked Ginny to marry him on the quidditch field in front of millions of fans. The look on his face when she said yes, that made Draco Malfoy smile.

When his mother accepted his relationship with Hermione Granger, that made Draco Malfoy smile. His love having tea with his mother every Tuesday at 2:00 pm talking about books and his mother’s garden made his lip quirk ever so slightly.

When Pansy announced that she was pregnant with a baby girl, and Hermione and Ginny squealed in delight as Pansy gushed over the possible names in the kitchen of his new acquired home that he and Hermione decorated. Draco began to exit the room when Pansy began to tease him about having one of his own sometime soon after the wedding of course. He walked out of the room but Hermione saw the small smile that formed on his face as he went to talk to Harry about his thoughts on the baby.

When Theo finally introduced Luna as his girlfriend to them all, Merlin it took him forever to gain the courage. They made a good looking couple. How they sat on the sofa with their hands intertwined like a couple of kids as he made her blush with his whispers. That made Draco Malfoy smile

The day of Ginny and Blaise’s wedding, even though Hermione looked the most stunning out of them all, was beautiful even for his standards. Her hair flowing down her back while in that blue gown that he loved the most. The way she smiled when they danced and told him that this reminded him of their wedding a year ago. The thought of her in her wedding dress once again made him smile.

A couple days later, Hermione told him that she was expecting, a boy, gods he was having a boy. A smile that could be seen for miles it was so big, she looked at him and cried the happiest tears. Finally they were having a child. He hugged her and told her that he loved her with everything. She told their friends and they were delighted. If they were lucky Harry and Pansy’s baby girl would be in the same year as him. They decided to name her Lillian, that made everyone smile.

Coffee made Draco Malfoy smile as he woke up in the mornings. Theo and Luna were already talking to the gorgeous brunette that was carrying his child. They were going to travel for a couple months and Hermione was trilled for them. Luna promised to owl pictures and things for Hermione to read. Hermione smiled. Her stomach growing bigger everyday.

When Hermione’s water broke Draco panicked. Not knowing what to do she yelled at him to get her to St. Mungos. She sent a patronus to Ginny, telling her to let everyone know. Sitting in the waiting room, Draco Malfoy was nervous. A healer called him in to hold Hermione’s hand during the labor. She was crying when he came in but I don’t think it was out of the pain the little boy was causing her. She was happy.

When Draco heard the cries of his newborn he smiled. He look at Hermione and smiled. The doctors went and cleaned him off as he held Hermione’s hand and smiled. She looked at him with adoration and uttered the words I love you and he smiled. Hermione was holding the baby when she looked at him, I think I have a name for him, Scorpius Hyperion Malfoy, doesn’t it sound lovely is what she said. Draco looked at her and nodded, it was perfect.

Hermione handed him Scorpius and Draco stood there in awe. He was beautiful. Surrounded by his friends he just looked at the baby and his eyes began to water and the smile on his face couldn’t be missed. Draco was a father and the love of his life had given him a perfect child. For the first time in years Draco Malfoy cried.

“Hmm?“ he murmured against her neck, relishing the feeling of her hair on his skin. It was really silky and so uncontrollable he sometimes was afraid that it would strangle him.

“Can you move away for a second? I need to—“

He shook his head and buried it deeper in the crook of her neck, her whining be damned. She had such a delicious scent, vanilia and magnolias, so innocent and so untainted. It aroused him to no end.

“Draco!“ she barked again, but still no answer. He was sleep-deprived and so exhausted that even breathing seemed to be hard enough to be done all by himself. “You need to move if oyu don’t want to suffocate your own son! Does the name Scorpius ring any bells?“

And there it was.

He landed on his backside on the floor, in confusion, blinking up owlishly and the white-washed haired toddler that had very effectively kicked him in the ribs.

Fuck that sprong - he grumbled - mummy is mine!

The toddler - as if understanding what his dad was mumbling - flashed him a radiant smile.

My mum will hear about this! - he mouthed clumsily.

Year 1

Harry and Malfoy meeting on the train (Ron also in the compartment)

They become friends because Malfoy as an only child doesn’t have any siblings to sit with

Malfoy and Ron still don’t like each other, but once Ron sees Harry (The Boy Who Lived) giving him a chance and he decides to too

Hermione asks if they’ve seen a toad and Malfoy answers politely that they haven’t

Hermione notices he’s the only one with his robes on in the compartment and gives him a smile and nod of approval

She casts a spell on Harry’s glasses to fix them

Malfoy returning the small grin and thinking to himself “what an intelligent girl”

When the trio needs help with Nicholas Flamel, Malfoy knows who he is and tells them

Year 2

Malfoy is shocked when he sees the blood on the wall

Harry and Malfoy bonding over how the rest of the school assumes the two of them are the heir of Slytherin

Ron and Malfoy spending time together talking about quidditch

Malfoy and Hermione spending ungodly hours in the library until Harry and Ron come retrieve them to go outside

The Chamber of Secrets isn’t a mystery to Harry, Ron and Hermione because Malfoy is there to explain it

Malfoy having the missing answers to their questions

Year 3

Malfoy getting hurt by Buckbeak and Hermione accompanies him to the hospital wing and stays there with him

Malfoy loving the attention from Pansy, but then Harry sees Hermione’s upset face and whacks him on the neck as he walks by

Sirius going to Hogwarts and seeing that Harry and Malfoy are friends makes him skeptical, but then loves their inter house relationship

Malfoy figuring out Hermione’s time turner and her letting him use it too to get more sleep because his roommates stay up all night

Year 4

Malfoy and Harry joking about the triwizard tournament

Malfoy and Ron being jealous together when Harry gets chosen, but then Malfoy relenting and talking to Harry about it

Hermione getting worked up about the challenges for Harry, but Malfoy calming her down
