Lately, I’ve been thinking a lot about all the things I’ve been reading or doing on the internet. And by a lot, I mean A LOT. 

I spend a lot of time wondering if what I’m doing is productive or enriching me in some way. Is me finishing an article about how terrible “The Mummy” was really going to help me and my life somehow? Do I really need to read about some terrible twitch streamer getting banned for doing something terrible? 

Being a creative person whose joy and income comes from making things, it can feel like an immense waste of time if the things that we bum around with aren’t helping us in some way. 

I tell myself television and storytelling are important because it can teach me about what is effective in making media. Or is that just some excuse to let my brain turn itself off and be force fed something mildly entertaining?
