one thing i wanna say though is data centers being built in rural areas is environmental racism + classism so when i see ppl bitching about locals bitching about data centers im like oh it’s literally because it’s not your backyard being demolished and your air not being polluted and your waterways not being ran dry and your soundscapes not being raised to unhealthy decibels ….
I don't know who needs to hear this, but if the phrase "self care" doesn't resonate with you, try calling it "system maintenance" and see if that clicks.
#this both makes things more fun and also is a really good analogy#because there are four types of system maintenance and that makes the term much more exact than the nebulous ''self-care''#and therefore much more helpful to those of us who uhhh struggle with nebulosity#for anyone curious the four types are:#1. corrective (to fix current problems)#2. preventative (to avoid future problems)#3. adaptative (to re-adjust to any changes)#4. perfective (to work towards a better system)#I really like this idea I'm gonna make a checklist

If you would like to have something handmade and one-of-a-kind, check out my quilts. As small as 1.5x1.5 inches and as large as queen size.
As many of my followers know, i had a severe hip dislocation in April.* This requires surgery to repair, and recovery will have me on bedrest for several weeks. It looks like surgery likely won't happen until this autumn.
I'm raising money to acquire items on my Throne list here. This includes the laptop i'm crowdfunding for, seeing as sitting at my computer desk causes intense pain. I also have other items there, and you can order them anonymously for me, if you wish to do so.
In order to acquire necessary funds, i've opened commissions. I will work on these until i can't. What i don't complete prior to surgery will have to wait until until after i recover. If you buy a commission, this is something you need to understand.
Now, that being said, let's get to the good stuff!
Pay What You Want - starts at $57 USD, what you receive won't be seen until it arrives. What you pay will influence what i choose to make, so beware this is a bit of a gamble.
Mug Rug - starts at $62 USD, 6x8 to 12x12 inches. Foundation paper piecing is an option. These are large enough for a mug and snack.
Single serving dining set - starts at $98 USD, and includes one placemat and matchint coaster. Foundation paper piecing is an option.
Set of four coasters - starts at $112 USD, with the option of adding more coasters to the set. Foundation paper piecing is also an option.
Table runner - starts at $246 USD, with the option of using insulated batting for this to serve as a long hot pad. Foundation paper piecing is also available.
Four piece placemat set - starts at $246 USD, with the options of adding a set of coasters and a table runner for a full collection. Foundation paper piecing is available as well.
Mini quilt - starts at $281 USD, and foundation paper piecing is an option.
Pine tree wallhanging - $292 USD, and can serve as an alternative for a yuletide tree. I have one, in pink, blue, and purple, and my ornaments are pins and buttons.
Potted plants wallhanging - $464 USD, and made using mostly scraps.
Just the quilt top - starts at $481 USD, with options for larger sizes. You will receive the finished top and will have to either do the quilting yourself or hire someone to do it for you. If you wish for me to use foundation paper piecing, pay twice the amount and mention you want me to use FPP and the size range. If there is a pattern you would like me to use, feel free to ask but I promise nothing.
*It caused something called a flap tear on the front of my right hip. A 4cm cyst developed next to it and just inside the edge of the joint. It has made it virtually impossible to sit upright for more tham 10 minutes at a time due to this section of my hip pinching the tear and cyst. I have pain tolerance high enough to scare my doctor and physical therapists, and the pain sitting upright causes is enough to bring me to tears.
This is a reminder for those who handmake Christmas presents that now is not too early to start. It may in fact be a good time to start if you have a lot to make/your craft takes a long time. You should maybe start it now, whether that's brainstorming or actually doing the crafts!
Was looking through my stash and found this lovely panel with some coordinating fabric.
I knew immediately which pattern I had picked for this, and since it’s a relatively quick quilt to put together, I figured I aught to get ‘er done.
Now. Should I save this for my mum who LOVES sailboats (whose birthday is in November), or see if anyone wants it and do something else for Mum?
Edit: my mum saw the panel laid out on the table when she came over and just stared at me with big wide eyes. It’s definitely going to her LMAO
(Also, if anyone ever has trouble ironing their long seams in a straight line, I highly recommend a 4 foot aluminium ruler from a hardware store. The thing is a beast and is always straight as a whistle.)

This is for just the quilt top. As you can see, the quilt is quite large. It's a twin size and will be about 64x80 inches.
Quilt details can be seen here: ko-fi.com/i/IO5O4JIRMZ Small note: I did have a cat when I made this. Finished quilts are washed and packed away to prevent any cat hair from getting on them. A quilt top isn't washed until it's a finished quilt. If you opt for just the quilt top, some cat hair may be on it. She did not have access to any of my fabric, nor did she get on the cutting table or sewing desk.

Show up at work like hi boss sorry I'm late my I was helping my mother track down one specific 90s dungeon crawler for the purposes of obtaining a muffin recipe the developer hid in the files

Emmrich and Manfred dining set - for sale, $288 USD
Another celebration for Dragon Age The Veilguard. This pair represents Emmerich and Manfred. Emmerich is a necromancer, and his assistant is a skeleton named Manfred. I haven't been able to play as of listing this, but from what I've seen in the trailers, Manfred wears goggles that appear made from green gems. Emmerich colors are green, dark wine red, gold, and off-white. I think there's blue on his list, but I opted for these instead.
The skull piece is 11.5x12.75 inches, and I used insulated batting for it. This gives you the option of having it serve as a really big mug rug, hot pad, or pot holder. Plus, as big as it is, it could be a placemat, hence the coaster.
The coaster is 5.25x5.25 inches, and the same design used for the eyes. Lay it over one of the eyes, and it sort of blends in.
All the fabric is cotton, and the gold bits are metallic and shiny.
The bone-colored fabric isn't solid. It's a batik with a subtle swirl, and that particular shade has a slight green tint to it. You may need to zoom in to see it.
This purchase will result in you receiving both pieces photographed here.
Hours x $27/hour + cost of materials = final price

Sometimes, i lose interest after makinv quilt blocks, so they end up in a sealed back for however long it takes to renew interest. It's rather sad, and they take up precious space.
Quilt blocks can be used for making clothes, toys, and various other things that require fabric. I've seen quilt block curtain, outerware (hoodies, jackets, etc) with quilt blocks on the back, pockets added to clothes, patches on trousers/pants, purses, and even dolls.
I have a stack of quilt blocks, enough for a twin size quilt, right now. They're polka dot rainbow with solids in the center. If there's enough interest, i'll list them in my shop.

My hip surgery consultation did not go well. They were more middleman than anything else. It was basically confirmation i do need surgery. They sent a referral out for an orthopedic surgeon. In a month, i may hear from them again about apirating the cyst next to the flap tear, and a cortisol shot to reduce the swelling. The earliest they can see me is at the end of August.
I was hoping for surgery during the summer. The weather rarely changes, which has my joints happy. Autumn fluctuates and makes my body very unhappy.
In good news, i have plenty of time to finish the wallhanging i plan on hanging in my sewing room.
We're still preparing for my surgery, which means
prepping the house, and hopefully getting a ramp installed,
putting together activities to keep me occupied, like Lego sets,
and putting money together for me to get the laptop I need, seeing as I would like to write my book. Currently, i cannot sit at my computer because i end up pinching the injured area of my hip.
I have a list you can order from and help me out here. It has the laptop crowdfund, ttrpg constructs for me to build, Lego sets, food, postcards and postage stamps (i'm active on postcrossing), and various other things. You can order them on my behalf, with the option of remaining anonymous.
Commissions are open, with ten slots, and will remain open until all slots are taken or when the wet season arrives...so probably October.
If you would like to have something handmade and one-of-a-kind, check out my quilts. As small as 1.5x1.5 inches and as large as queen size.
I will work on commissions as much as I safely can. When surgery happens, there will be a lengthy wait. Could be a few weeks or a few months. Snatch up a slot soon!
Please reblog!!!
I'm on social security, and my husband hasn't been able to find a second job. What he makes as my state-paid caregiver covers our mortgage and a couple bills. My SSDI covers about two weeks of groceries and one other bill. Before our current leadership caused inflation to get this bad, it would have been barely enough. Not anymore. Any help we can get will make a difference, and that includes reblogging, which is free.
Liking a post bookmarks it for you, reblogs get seen.
Anyway this disability pride month I would like to shoutout disabled folks whose creativity has suffered because of their condition. I’m talking people with hand tremors and pain that stop them from drawing, knitting, and playing instruments. People whose thinking has become so disorganized that nothing they write makes sense to other people. People with chronic pain who can no longer dance. People so over medicated in a fruitless attempt to maintain stability that the wells of their imagination have run dry.
I see you and I love you. You are more than your creative output. You are not a shell of what you used to be. You are a whole, complete person, regardless of what your creativity has been, is now, or will be in the future.
