My bf is moving out for the first time, signed the lease and got the keys today. We spent a couple hours buying cleaning supplies and cleaning the new place (not finished). While he went out on a food run about 3/4 of the way done for the day, I was attempting to clean the oven. I lifted the heating element to clean underneath and something sparked and popped. Uh oh. I try to turn the oven on, nothing works. I freak, I start frantically Googling. Google says maybe I just tripped the breaker. I go find it and attempt to flip it back. I go back to oven. Still broken. I text bf telling him I broke it. At this point in time he's never gotten mad at me for a mistake, and when he IS mad he never yells at me. I'm SURE he's going to be mad I broke the oven while he was gone for a whole 10 minutes and now he has to message the landlord. He comes back, and he's perfectly calm. He checks it out while I explain what happened. He goes to check the breaker again. I did it wrong before, he figured it out after the third attempt. Tested oven, it worked just fine, thank God. No need to message the landlord. But he was SO calm and kept reassuring me over and over the whole time we were messing with it, kept telling me it was okay and kept hugging me bc he could tell how upset and guilty I was feeling. Never in my life have I been treated so gently or kindly when I made a mistake, ESPECIALLY one that would cost a couple hundred dollars. It's moments like those that I truly see my husband in him, and this new apartment is going to make it feel that way all the time
