So You Have Herpes, Now What?

I'm 17 and about a month ago I was diagnosed with type 2, I've had two break outs and when I found out I couldn't tell you how long I cried for. I was so scared to tell my partner (already moved out and in college) because we don't use protection. I thought my relationship was over and he was going to be disgusted by me. He still loves me the same, yes it sucks having it but it doesn't make me any less of a person I am.

hi I'm new to Tumblr and new to herpes! The first day that I found out I was very suicidal but I'm feeling a lot better already. Its a very confusing diagnosis because I do not have any symptoms and I've never had an outbreak... I just tested positive for HSV-1 and I have not idea if its oHSV or gHSV. So I don't know how to approach my life... Do I assume I have gHSV or oHSV? Its so confusing.

I was just diagnosed yesterday, I currently feel like I was hit with a sack of bricks. The stigma is real and the information commonly known is very slim. I have learned so much in the past 24 hours and with blogs like yours I'm feeling like I'm quickly accepting it. Thank you. Currently contacting my partners in the last 6 months since my last negative test (which was only in march!) I'm so scared of their reactions. (1/2) hi! i just wanted to say i love your blog and i would like to share my story. i had my first outbreak about a month ago and tested positive from a culture swab for GHSV2. i remember sobbing in the exam room, feeling "dirty," broken, and enraged at the person i believed i got it from, even though they didn't know. the pain of the first outbreak definitely adds to the shock of finding out. but with acyclovir and steroid and numbing creams helped the outbreak clear up within a week.

I have had herpes for a year now before i found this blog i have never felt so alone:( being a virgin at the age of 20 then sleeping with my current boyfriend i couldnt believe two days after i found out what he had gave me, this blog makes me feel like i am not alone, thank u😍

Hey, different anon, but I just wanted to chime in and say that herpes can be spread by more than genital to genital contact! I also have genital HSV1, and contracted it from oral to genital contact (why it's possible to have genital HSV1 and oral HSV2). But also good news--genital HSV1 is the most difficult to spread, if you have oral HSV1 (i.e. if you've ever had a cold sore) and do have contact with genital HSV1 it's really unlikely you'll contract genital HSV1 as well. I am also getting a Bachelor of Science and trying to improve my health. I have been feeling pretty down lately and I have been working out to try to raise my self-esteem. I was curious, can you still go tanning with this skin condition?

Reading your profile made me feel 1000 times better.... I don't personally have herpes but my boyfriend does and we found out yesterday. It's been a really fucking rocky 24 hours. I am scared. But reading your things are easing my mind to as if I get it...
