Making a final post to let anyone know who comes across this blog that it is no longer active. I really appreciate the support over the years and the amazing genuine friends I've made from here, some I've had the pleasure of meeting IRL. I should have made this post ages ago as I've been inactive for years at this point.

So I have just recently been diagnosed with genital HSV 1 which I learned I got from oral sex. My question is because it’s general HSV 1 does that mean it would be transmitted to my partner as genital HSV 1 or could they contract oral herpes from oral sex?

A few weeks ago I got out of the relationship with a guy where I got my GHSV from. When I got it I was not even worried, thinking our relationship is great and we’ll manage it. Now, being single, I worry I will never meet a person who will love me enough not to care. And I can’t stand the thought of passing it on to somebody I love. I feel kinda down and angry and I have no idea what my life will be like... I just want to be confident and worry-free again.

I got a message a few days ago saying a previous sexual partner tested positive for an STD so I got tested yesterday. I tested positive for Herpes simplex 1. I feel disgusted with myself and angry with my ex. He’s the only guy I’ve been with. He told me he had gotten tested after his las relationship and was clean. Either he lied or he was cheating on me and I can’t figure out which one hurts more. Idk what to do about all of it. I’m making a gyno appointment to figure out what to do

Hello. I am so confused at the moment. I just had a check up from my OB and she said I might have herpes. I am with the person for 6 years and he hasn't got it. Where did I get it? We were confused and were assuming I was misdiagnosed but based on my symptoms it really seems like herpes. How would I cope with this std. It saddens me to know I might pass it onto my partner or my future children. How did I get this? Help me. I feel so broken

Hello! GHSV1 here, diagnosed 1.5y ago. l got it from my ex’s mouth lesions and I broke up with him about 7 months ago after 2y together because he was verbally aggressive and abusing. Since the breakup, my outbreaks lessened drastically. Now I’m starting to date this new guy who seems to be so great, but I’m nervous about how he will take the news. I’ve told a few of my friends and they’ve all been great, but I’m still a bit nervous about my love life. Just venting 😊

I asked my doctor for the test because my wife had her first outbreak and they talked me out of it because I wasn’t presenting and now I’m sitting here with super painful blisters and I’m pissed at that doctor.

Hello...so I just got diagnosed with HSV 1. I’ve been super anxious and scared and not sure how to cope with it. I understand it’s common and I shouldn’t worry so much. But it’s hard. Any positive advice.

Would you discourse that you have hsv-1 on a dating profile?

I get cold sores, and I get feel like I shouldn't try to date bc no one would want to be with me once I tell them. How do I deal with this? My bad if the question is a little confusing.

Hello! Has anyone heard of or dealt with having a “serious” outbreak for the first time after a few years? I was first diagnosed in 2016 and after the initial outbreak (very painful) I haven’t had another one because anytime I felt one coming on I’d take meds. Within the past year I decided to not rely on the meds and now I have what I think may be an outbreak, but it’s been four years since I’ve had one. Basically, I’m just curious if anyone else has dealt with “serious” outbreaks years apart?

I've had hsv2 for about a year now (and I've sent a couple anon asks in before lol) but I still cant seem to fully accept it. I've accepted that I have herpes, but it's sort easy rn bc I'm single. I cant accept that I'll have to tell every future partner about my diagnosis, and face a lot of rejection, so right now my solution is just to not date at all... the problem is, I am very lonely and very ready to date, even ready for a long term relationship but I just feel like it'll never happen

Should we disclose if we have herpes orally

Got diagnosed with hsv2 today. I have gonorrhea in my throat, too, but that's not my main concern right now. Every single time I have to pee it burns like hellfire, definitely a 10 on the pain scale. I'm on my 1st day of antivirals but ive been in pain for the past 8 days. Azo, vaseline, baths, hot and cold cloths, tramadol, and tylenol haven't helped. I am now genuinely afraid of going to the bathroom because peeing hurts so much. have any idea how to manage these herpes ulcers?

I have genital herpes for over a year now and I still have trouble sometimes telling if I have an outbreak or not. Is that a bad thing?
