i don’t need it to remember the thing exactly, but when i’m sitting by myself, and i can’t remember exactly why i want to be here, i can look.

how does one go about unstitching someone from the fabric of their life?

it felt like forever, so you let them intertwine with you; introducing colors and patterns, and forever changing the design.

but over time, the seams have started to rip;

the edges are fraying— and the quilt that was once the perfect mirror of your life is disorganized, and even worse, outgrown.

do you fold it up & put it on the shelf? letting it collect dust?

do you rip and pull and discard? until there’s no memory of what it ever looked like?

or do you let it be?

to want someone is to laugh a little louder,

to want someone is to put more effort into appearance,

to want someone is to lie awake at night and wonder.

to be wanted is to laugh at what’s funny,

to be wanted is to wear what you love,

to be wanted is to fall asleep as your head hits the pillow.

to want is to change,

i read this a bit earlier today (12/09/2024) in a post @letsbelonelytogetherr and it struck a chord in me. later in the day, i needed to pour my emotions out, and so i did into my notes app. i’m tired of keeping little things and poems i’ve written confined to that space, so i’m sharing it here. this journey is just for me and whoever resonates with anything that i write about.
