My thoughts have been diverted after seeing a post talking about reader-inserts always being romance (nothing wrong with that) and now I'm thinking about a reader insert that focuses on a sibling relationship between the reader and Suguru, who is their brother, inspired by the Greek tragedy Antigone. Like the exchange from that particular translation/writing of it that goes:
"Polynices was a rebel and a traitor and you know it."
Obviously it would differ quite a bit. But, the whole theme of restless spirits and the importance of funeral rites being such a literal concern because of Kenjaku's freaky self adds to the tension, imo. And I really love unsanitized greek mythology as inspo.
P.s, I'm still writing sukuna and cannibalism
I like Sukuna having a platonic relationship with reader. One of my wips is precisely a parental relationship with him, and there are others that won't be disclosed this year because I can't affor anyone telling me they want that shit and making me want to start them yay
And oh, I went after to read a bit about Antigone because I remember not too much of the greek mythology aside from the ones I was insane about and the funny ones (a lot of them are stupid funny)
Prior to the beginning of the play, the brothers Eteocles and Polynices, leading opposite sides in Thebes' civil war, died fighting each other for the throne. Creon, the new ruler of Thebes and brother of the former Queen Jocasta, has decided that Eteocles will be honored and Polynices will be in public shame. The rebel brother's body will not be sanctified by holy rites and will lie unburied on the battlefield, prey for carrion animals, the harshest punishment at the time. Antigone and Ismene are the sisters of the dead Polynices and Eteocles.
In the opening of the play, Antigone brings Ismene outside the palace gates late at night for a secret meeting: Antigone wants to bury Polynices' body, in defiance of Creon's edict, as the Greeks believed that the omission of proper burial rights is an insult to human dignity. Ismene refuses to help her, not believing that it will actually be possible to bury their brother, who is under guard, but she is unable to stop Antigone from going to bury her brother herself.
yeah no definitely wanna do shit with this and Kenjaku's ass desecrating Suguru's body. Also it's greek mythology and Queen fucking Jocasta and Oedipus are there, you know I can insert terrible layers of incest in this to make it even worse, right? With Kenjaku specifically puppeteering Suguru's body. (i'm so sorry serpent I love the horrors)
I'm still here sat down waiting for your papers on my table.
