I'm so stoked for this! Can't believe it's almost time! I have a question about the App, though: can we put more than one planet in the World Building section, if there's multiple locations that are important to our character? Thanks.
Yes, you can include more than one planet! As long as it’s critical to your character, we don’t mind extra info. Just keep in mind that you probably want to keep some things a bit vague/open for plotting - especially since there will be so many cool planet ideas from other members!

do aliens exist in this universe? like can we incorporate them into our character’s planet/backstory?
Like we said in our last ask, we don’t want to open the door for aliens until we get out plotting chat up and running so we can decide together how aliens fit into our galaxy. It’s not something we necessarily want you to include in your character’s backstory at this point, since we don’t want it to seem like any one person is writing the alien canon alone, but you could leave your backstory vague with openings to incorporate that in later!

will you be accepting aliens?
For now, we’re going to ask that you wait on applying for alien characters. Until we can get the chat going and figure out how aliens could fit into our galaxy, we would rather not open up applications for them. Aliens could be a playable species in the future, but for now, we’re going to say no!Â
Hi! I saw a while back people were sending in their character concepts, and I wanted to share mine- I'm working on an app for a cheery mechanic from the planet Typhon, a technological hub of sorts. It has a society that revolves around engineering, tirelessly birthing new technology and working to improve that which already exists. The population lives solely beneath the surface of the planet, and the different sectors are connected by underground roads. :)
Ooooh, yes, we love hearing character concepts! Your role sounds great. We definitely need a mechanic onboard the Terminus - especially one from a planet like Typhon! I think the planet could be a really interesting part of the canon for the whole group, and I can’t wait to hear more about it!
Are you interested in a group that doesn’t equate literacy with length? Does app competition make roleplaying unenjoyable for you, but you find that totally appless rps have too high of a turnover rate for your style of rping? Then Into the Black might be the group for you. Here, we believe that the length of your reply doesn’t determine how literate you are and know that rapid-fire replies can be every bit as literate as any other post. Our style of “semi appless” is still first come first serve. You won’t be forced to compete against strangers for a certain position on the ship or face claim.

Yes! We encourage you to make up a home planet for your muse. They absolutely do not have to be from the one planet we created to get the group started. In fact, both Jean and I have different home planets for our roles!

In our discord writer’s room, we’ll plot and talk together to create stories that highlight all of our roles and foster a community. The group is set on a small spaceship, and our roles are all bounty hunters for the Company, a corporation that aims to rule the galaxy.

Guess what? We’ll be opening up the main on Monday! Who else is super excited to see all the apps everyone has been working on this month? I know I can’t wait!
Bounty hunters have one job -
- to arrest known rebels across the galaxy and return them to the Company’s home planet for trial. Bounty Hunters are feared and sometimes hated by the residents of each planet. Danger awaits every time a team’s craft touches ground.
Life as a Bounty Hunter is transient. All teams have their own spacecraft that they live on and work out of. Together, they must face each challenge that comes their way or die trying. They have a great deal of freedom due to the nature of their job, but they’re held to the highest standards of success. A failed mission doesn’t just result in a missed paycheck. Too many failures can result in the Company disbanding a team and forcing them to get in line like every other galaxy citizen. Rumors among the teams have some bounty hunters speculating that the Company might even go so far as to try failed hunters as traitors to the regime.
For better or for worse, each mission the bounty hunters receive is a chance to prove themselves. Only time will tell if the hunters are on the right side of history….or if being on the right side of anything matters anymore.
The time has come for round 1 of the star system vote! There were so many great suggestions that this vote will be broken into two rounds. The top 5 winners from this round will go on to round 2, and the winner of round 2 will be the official name of the star system. Be sure to get your vote in!
