Al kadhim shrine. Baghdad, Iraq.
They are not satisfied with their meagre good acts, and do not regard their major acts as great. They always blame themselves and are afraid of their deeds. When anyone of them is spoken of highly, he says: âI know myself better than others, and my Lord knows me better than I know. Oâ Allah do not deal with me according to what they say, and make me better than they think of me and forgive me (those shortcomings) which they do not know.â
Imam Ali (as), Nahjul Balagha Sermon 192 (via 14noor)

"Anger is the key to every evil."
âImam Hassan Askari [as]
Hey so I have a question. Do Shia hate Ashia, the Prophet's wife? Or not? Because some have said they hate her and curse her but others said they don't. So I'm confused.
Salam alaykom wa rahmatullah :)
I wasnât trying to ignore you. I just prefer to only respond when I can in depth because my anons deserve the same kind of respect I give to everyone else.
It is not in our creed to hate anybody. But it is in our creed to ask questions.
Letâs examine the Quran and the verses that both Ahle Sunnah and the Shia agree are about Aisha:
"And [remember] when the Prophet confided to one of his wives a statement; and when she informed [another] of it and Allah showed it to him, he made known part of it and ignored a part. And when he informed her about it, she said, "Who told you this?" He said, "I was informed by the Knowing, the Acquainted." - Quran 66:4
"If you two [wives] repent to Allah , [it is best], for your hearts have deviated. But if you cooperate against him - then indeed Allah is his protector, and Gabriel and the righteous of the believers and the angels, moreover, are [his] assistants." - Quran 66:5
"Perhaps his Lord, if he divorced you [all], would substitute for him wives better than you - submitting [to Allah ], believing, devoutly obedient, repentant, worshipping, and traveling - [ones] previously married and virgins." - Quran 66:6
Who are these two wives?
Narrated âUbaid bin âUmar: I heard âAisha saying, âThe Prophet used to stay for a long while with Zanab bint Jahsh and drink honey at her house. So Hafsa and I decided that if the Prophet came to anyone of us, she should say him, âI detect the smell of Maghafir (a nasty smelling gum) in you. Have you eaten Maghafir?â â So the Prophet visited one of them and she said to him similarly. The Prophet said, âNever mind, I have taken some honey at the house of Zainab bint Jahsh, but I shall never drink of it anymore.â So there was revealed: âO Prophet ! Why do you ban (for you) that which Allah has made lawful for you ⌠If you two (wives of Prophet) turn in repentance to Allah,â (66.1-4) addressing Aisha and Hafsa. âWhen the Prophet disclosed a matter in confidence to some of his wives.â (66.3) namely his saying: But I have taken some honey.â - Sahih Bukhari- Volume 7, Book 63, Number 192.
Letâs examine our Islamic history through narrations:
Aisha led a battle against the caliph of her time, Imam Ali (as). This battle is called the Battle of Jamal.
The Messenger of Allah said: âLoving âAli is the sign of belief, and hating âAli is the sign of hypocrisy.â- Sahih Muslim, v1, p48;- Sahih Tirmidhi, v5, p643;- Sunan Ibn Majah, v1, p142;- Musnad Ahmad Ibn Hanbal v1, pp 84,95,128- Tarikh al-Kabir, by al-Bukhari (the author of Sahih), v1, part 1, p202- Hilyatul Awliyaâ, by Abu Nuâaym, v4, p185- Tarikh, by al-Khateeb al-Baghdadi, v14, p462
"We recognized the hypocrites by their hatred of âAli."- Fadaâil al-Sahaba, by Ahmad Ibn Hanbal, v2, p639, Tradition #1086- al-Istiab, by Ibn Abd al-Barr, v3, p47- al-Riyad al-Nadirah, by al-Muhib al-Tabari, v3, p242- Dhakhaâir al-Uqba, by al-Muhib al-Tabari, p91
The Messenger of Allah said: âWhoever hurts âAli, has hurt meâ- Musnad Ahmad Ibn Hanbal, v3, p483- Fadaâil al-Sahaba, by Ahmad Hanbal, v2, p580, Tradition #981- Majmaâ al-Zawaâid, by al-Haythami, v9, p129- al-Sawaâiq al-Muhriqah, by Ibn Hajar al-Haythami, Ch. 11, section 1, p263- Ibn Habban, Ibn Abd al-Barr, etc.
Abu Huraira narrated: The Prophet (S) looked toward âAli, al-Hasan, al-Husayn, and Fatimah, and said: âI am in the state of war with those who will fight you, and in the state of peace with those who are peaceful to you.â(1) Sahih al-Tirmidhi, v5, p699(2) Sunan Ibn Majah, v1, p52(3) Fadaâil al-Sahaba, by Ahmad Ibn Hanbal, v2, p767, Tradition #1350(4) al-Mustadrak, by al-Hakim, v3, p149(5) Majmaâ al-Zawaâid, by al-Haythami, v9, p169(6) al-Kabir, by Tabarani, v3, p30, also in al-Awsat(7) Jamius Saghir, by al-Ibani, v2, p17(8) Tarikh, by al-Khateeb al-Baghdadi, v7, p137(9) Sawaiâq al-Muhriqah, by Ibn Hajar al-Haythami, Ch. 11, section 1, p221(10) Talkhis, by al-Dhahabi, v3, p149(11) Dhakhaâir al-Uqba, by al-Muhib al-Tabari, p25(12) Mishkat al-Masabih, by Khatib al-Tabrizi, English Version, Tdadition #6145(13) Others such as Ibn Habban, etc.
The Messenger of Allah said: âWhoever reviles/curses âAli, has reviled/cursed meâ- al-Mustadrak, by al-Hakim, v3, p121, who mentioned this tradition is Authentic.- Musnad Ahmad Ibn Hanbal, v6, p323- Fadaâil al-Sahaba, by Ahmad Hanbal, v2, p594, Tradition #1011- Majmaâ al-Zawaâid, by al-Haythami, v9, p130- Mishkat al-Masabih, English version, Tradition #6092- Tarikh al-Khulafa, by Jalaluddin al-Suyuti, p173
Narrated Saâd Ibn Abi Waqqas: Muawiyah, the son of Abu Sufyan, give order to Saâd, and told him: âWhat prevents you that you are refraining from cursing Abu Turab (nickname of âAli)?âSaâd replied: âDonât you remember that the Prophet said three things about (the virtue of) âAli? So I will never curse âAli.â- Sahih Muslim, Chapter of Virtues of Companions, Section of Virtues of âAli, Arabic, v4, p1871, Tradition #32.
As demonstrated Aisha is mentioned in the Quran and in the hadith for the above reasons. However, at the end of the day, she is a wife of the prophet of Islam (saww) and for this, we do not hate her. But we do not sugarcoat the above history either. Itâs there for everyone to examine as seeking the truth through questioning and verifying is a part of Islam.
The Shia are not allowed to curse anyone. We are allowed to performed lana, as has been done in the Quran and by the Prophet (saww) and his Ahlulbayt (asws). Seb is cursing and itâs haram. Lana is asking Allah (swt) to withdraw mercy from an oppressor and this is allowed in Islam. Furthermore as outlined above, the tradition of cursing was not created by the Shia but rather by othersâŚ
This all being said, you will find extremists in every religion who break the rules. And they mustnât be made representatives of the religion.
I hope youâre less confused now :) let me know if youâd like more!
Allah (swt) bless :)
