Jumping on another German show, Totebfrau (Woman of the Dead). Very compelled by the dynamic between Blum and Reza. United by Blum's husband (Mark), who's to both this saint-like figure who can see behind a person's mistakes, by a past riddled with crimes and by working together as post mortem estheticians. Mark brings home Reza one day like he's this poor wet dog he and Blum must take care of and of course, even if she just thinks he is just a petty thief, he takes him in and gives him a job because Mark asked. Reza thinks she's an asocial sociopath but Mark asks him to look after her as long as he lives and of course Reza gives him his word because Mark asked. Once Mark dies (literally in the first episods, that's the starting event), you could imagine this devolved in a King Arthur-Guinevere-Lancelot love triangle, with a romance between Blum and Reza, but, as far as the first season, it doesn't.
Reza is the loyal knight ho swore to his king to protect a queen (who has something deeply wrong with her) and Blum is the queen who swore to his king he would look after his most loyal knighy (who has something deeply wrong with her). And they never even liked eachother.
It's som form of forced found family. It's not romantic, not platonic, not evem queerplatonic, but it's firm. It's unfliching, like devotion. They simply have a duty of care towards eachothers, and they are willing to put any kind of moral scruples aside to accomplish it.
It's rotten work, especially to me, especially if it's you, but it's what I have to do, and I will do it.
