My mother told me about a conversation she heard with a Nigeran servant who lived in her mother's home. (She was in college when her family moved from India to Nigera, they ended up moving back though.)

A bit of backstory though. In India, when my mum was a girl, servants were not expected to learn English because of shitty education offered to the lower classes. But in Nigera, everyone knew the languange. But oc, my mum didn't know that,

Now for the actual story...

So the servant's name was Patience. My mother asked her, "Do you know what your name means?" And she replied, "Yes, your mother doesn't have a drop of it.")

This will be one hell of a ride.

My father was born in PA. But he grew up in Delhi. But his dads family is from Bihar.

My mother was born in Kolkata/Calcutta, (I have no idea what's the diffrence someone please help me). But her family is also from Bihar.

So I'm from Bihar but not really cause whenvever we go to india we go to kolkata and I have never been to the family estates, (mom or dad).

Kolkata is my home in india. I think. Kind of. I'm just going to stop

so my grandma, nani, is staying with us. as i was walking to the indian store with her we saw my crush. when we got home, this was my conversation with her:

Nani: What is his plans for the future? Me: Who? Nani: That boy you waved to. Me: NANI, we are still in school!! Nani: I just want to know. Is it bad to be curious about my beta's life? Me: He wants to be a doctor

This only starts her backup again.

Nani: Does he want to be married in India? Me: We are not even dating, forget about marriage plans. Nani (imitating): "We are not even dating" I think you and him will make cute children. Me: NANI! (I'm red in the face after that one) Nani: Anyways, it's not like you don't want to be married to him.
