Having a rural placement for clinicals i was sort of worried just because even though i do pass like 90% of the time these days the baseball cap and outfits do a lot of the heavy lifting LMAO. My hair was very long at the time as well so i did get mistaken for a woman quite a few times by patients. But it was like weirdly good exposure therapy for correcting people and literally no one gave me any pushback they were all very apologetic and normal and usually said they're just so used to female nurses etc etc. Which like i'm not a nursing student but whatever semantics. I don't usually mind it much because it's never happened to me in a malicious way but it's just EMBARRASSINGGGG. Like it invokes the same feeling as stepping in dog shit or having your pants rip in public. Anyway it's just a social situation i've neglected to navigate myself! Phlebotomy practicum was the perfect environment for it because they're in MY chair and you don't want to argue with the guy who's gonna tie you up and stab you and drain you of your blood
