I saw these on the inside of a tag for some underwear my mom bought for me the other day. They’re close to the thread that you snip off, so be careful!

What I would say is that you carry it around to test for fake jewelry. Metal (fake) jewelry is attracted to magnets however, real 14k (and up) gold ISN’T attracted to metal.

You can always say you like to visit jewelry stores a lot and as a result you test that the piece you are buying is legit.
