Imogen Poots

“As long as it doesn’t put you in danger, I don’t see the problem with it. It’s just a little creepy. What exactly is smudging? I might have to do it.” Haven said, making a mental note to look into it.
“Smudging is cleansing your home of bad energy, vibes, feelings, lingering pasts, all that. You can get bundles of herbs, usually white sage, and light one end. But the real magic, so to speak, comes after blowing out the fire and just keeping the smoke going. And smell and energy is what gets the results. Along with thinking or repeating a mantra to spread clear and positive energy. I had a, uh, spiritual and earth friendly roommate back in college who really brought out this side in me.”

“Oh don’t be silly. You could have gone!” She shook her head lightly. “I’m glad I got here when I did then… You might have ended up with withdrawals.” She laughed and nudged Nora lightly. “I’m not going to fight you on that. And this is packing light…” She laughed and handed off one of the smaller bags to Nora. “One of the lucky things… getting through security was easy. They know me fairly well. We flew a lot. So it made it easier. Especially with all this luggage.” She didn’t have a TON but she had enough to be annoying when traveling. She was uprooting her entire life though. It was reasonable she’d had a fair bit with her. She looked around the small portion of Woodridge they could see. “It hasn’t changed much… has it?”
“No way, Jose! It’s our thing! You would have sensed it all the way back in the city and sulked. Secretly of course but sulked.” She spoke with a defiant nod. Even if it was, or could be seen as, childish, she believed it was a tradition. Some traditions needed to remain sacred and whole. She didn’t have much for family so every small thing with Poppy was cherished. Especially their food rituals and patterns. She grinned as she took more of her friend’s things, feeling more useful than before. It was mind boggling how quickly and almost effortlessly Poppy was able to move on. Nora had wanted to move out of the city for a couple of months before she actually took the plunge. The roommate turned fling turned boyfriend just sent her over the edge. She snapped out of her New York thoughts and smiled weakly to Poppy before looking around at the old buildings. “Mm, it’s comforting that Woodridge is still here. Standing for like a hundred years. Even though the world around this place is moving at the speed of light. It just...exists outside of time.”

Olivia couldn’t help but chuckle at that. “No one told us being an adult would suck so much,” She ran a hand through her hair before taking another sip of her drink. “Work is awful and you’re broke all the time. Can’t catch a break.” And complaining to strangers in a bar. Misery did love company after all.
“Nope!” Nora laughed as she felt a small buzz from her drinks rise. She glanced up towards the barkeeper and grinned as she grabbed their attention. As they moved towards the two women, Nora looked to her new friend of sorts and nodded to the glass. “What are you drinking? Next’s on me,” she offered with a soft smile. A free drink was the adult equivalent to sharing cookies in the lunch room. Or so Campbell saw them.

olivia--dixon:
Olivia had been having a very long day. It had been rent day, and grocery day, so she was running low on funds. Not to mention the fact that her oldest brother had called her and insisted she move back home for what felt like the tenth time that week. So, defeated, she had decided to blow the rest of her scant paycheck at the bar. Apparently this Sure Shot Tavern was supposed to be good. She had plopped into a seat without regard to the person sitting next to her, but now she turned to look at them. “I wish life could just give me a break every now and then, you know?” She said, rolling her eyes.
“Oh,” Nora sighed into her margarita glass, “I know.” The blonde took the last sip of her drink then turned to somewhat face the women beside her. Her chin rested in the palm of her hand and her brows barely lifted a centimeter. She knew that she looked exhausted. It was the result of not one, but two people calling out of work and having to get a new kid in. When she wasn’t doing her job, she was doing half of theirs and prepping for tomorrow’s blends. “I wish I wasn’t in such a rush to become an adult when I was younger. This sucks.”

Listening to the girl’s experiences, Haven raised her eyebrows in a mix of shock and amazement at what had happened. “That’s crazy,” she commented with a shake of her head. “I’d be properly spooked, especially with that bathroom door thing.”
“The whole building was haunted. I’d smudge but they’d come back a few days later. It wasn’t anything dangerous or harmful. I think of it all as pranks. Smudging works really well if you can cure the entire house or building. I’ve heard raw dragonsblood - it’s an herb I guess - works the best.”

Poppy grinned as they started to walk off with Nora towards Ice Cream. Suddenly Nora exclaimed and was shoving flowers at her. This caused Poppy to start laughing, even more so when Nora got down on her knee in front of her. She took the flowers and hugged Nora quickly, but tightly once again. “Thank you~” She chimed happily and stuck her nose right into the flowers. Thankful allergies never really took hold of her. “Now, Ice Cream?” She tilted her head, she could almost still remember the familiar pathways to the ice cream shop.
The blonde nodded as she stepped out of the embrace. “Yes!” she grinned, sidestepping and spinning around in a lazy dance, “now ice cream. I’ve been good and haven’t gone to our place yet. Serious! It hasn’t been a complete cleanse but store bought isn’t the same.” She scrunched her nose at Poppy. Her eyes caught the remainder of the luggage. She reached out to grab more and pouted at Poppy. “Let me carry more. You’ve had a long trip, Flower.”
havenxmarlowes:
Nodding in agreement, Haven sighed a little. “Not as far as I’m aware. But if anything’s gone by the time I’m home, you’ll be the first to know,” she told the other girl with a shrug. “Oh really? What kind of things happened? Just your stuff going missing?”
“Yeah...” Nora started as her mind began to recall several strange instances. “My favorite ear buds would always be in the wrong place, or just not where I left them. One time they were gone for two weeks and then bam, right there on my desk. I would lose socks a lot too. Not from the monsters in the washer but literally they would be paired, I would put them away. Then go to grab a pair from the drawer, and one would be missing. The bathroom door too would be locked without me locking it. So I would leave bobby pins to unlock the stupid thing. Just really really weird stuff.”
havenxmarlowes:
“I’ve never really been one to believe in ghosts, but after what happened last night, my view has been changed.” Haven began, turning to the person that walked by. “I was in bed, scrolling through my phone with the bedside lamp turned on, and out of nowhere, the book I had laying on the bedside table opened, and the pages kept turning like wind was turning them over, but I checked all the doors and windows and there was no draught at all.” She told them with a sigh. “So long story short, I live in a haunted house.”
“It sounds like the spirit just wants to mess with you a little,” Nora offered her bit with a lazy shrug of the shoulders. “Have you noticed if anything has gone missing?” Already she was invested in this house and the spirits that were probably giving the woman chills. “The last place I lived in was definitely haunted. And weird things would go missing.”

“Fries!” Amy cried as if the whole thing had been her idea, excited by the prospect of food. “Yes, lets get fries!”
“Excellent!” The blonde turned her attention to the dog for a moment and gestured for her to come back. As soon as the small companion returned, Nora clipped Coco’s leash to the collar and started walking towards the road. “I think there’s a place close by that has take out orders? Right? Or maybe...it closed down years ago. I wouldn’t know. My memory is fuzzy and blurs childhood and reality.”

lovelikeausten:
There was a small part of Poppy that knew, despite the man being the problem, that the blame fell to the woman. You want to blame the woman who seduced your husband, you don’t want to blame the man you made your vows too. Somewhere deep down in her heart though, Poppy knew she didn’t want the woman to turn her attacks on Poppy’s former lover. The man had a special place in her heart. “Yes! Please! Nothing like ice cream in Woodridge on the first official day of summer.” Because as children, summer didn’t start until they hit Woodridge. She laughed lightly. “It’s called Aveda actually, it’s not cheap so it better smell good and make my hair feel like a goddess’!” She grinned widely, letting the scent of the sea air in Woodridge bring her back to carefree days as children. The sea breeze picking up a few strands of hair. “I got you some for your hair, different kind because you have different hair but I thought you’d like it. It’s cruelty free too.”
Nora’s nose scrunched as she giggled at Poppy’s delight. She grabbed one of the luggage bags and turned to walk towards the street. As she took her first step, she halted and presented the bouquet of flowers to Poppy. “I totally forgot!” Her thought was interrupted and she drew out her lower lip in a small pout. “Aww. AWWW! That makes my cold little heart so happy!” she teased with a giggle. “I can’t wait to see it! But yeah! These are for you, my dear.” Nora, forever a goof with her closest friend, got down on one knee and squinted at the afternoon sun as she shoved the flowers at Poppy. They weren’t anything special but the contrast of colors and odd beauty of the bunch reminded her of Poppy’s love for odd beauties. She got back up to her feet with a grin.

ameliasxescape:
Amy took Nora’s hand, getting to her feet uneasily steadying herself and griping onto Nora’s shoulder. She dug her feet into the sand finally able to support herself she let go of Nora with a wide smile. “See!” She said, proud of her accomplishment.
Nora focused on her center of gravity, knowing incredibly well that people under the influence are heavier than well sober. She wasn’t a nerd on physics but dealt with enough drunk roommates to know well to brisk herself. She smiled though to the other woman and nodded her head. “Yeah,” she mumbled an agreement. “Why don’t we go get some fries? Hmm? Greasy, salty, delicious...”
ameliasxescape:
Amelia petted the dog happily until it became distracted moving off to sniff at some seaweed, lying on a rock nearby leaving her looking at it wistfully only turning her attention back to Nora when she chose to accept her offer. “Yes, that - that might be helpful.”
Nora leaned over and offered the fallen one a hand up. She was very sure Coco wouldn’t go wandering off too far. The pup was smart and knew that she had a good life at home with all the treats she could ever imagine. “Careful though with your footing.”
