Prompt: Tony, Peter, Steve and maybe other Avengers are captured. Bad people try torturing the Super Soldiers with sensory stuff and they assumed Peter Parker isn't a threat so he can't react to the pain and give it away that he's a Super (cue worried Irondad). Maybe he ends up being BAMF and getting them out of there even while his ears are bleeding.
Tony appreciates that the secret society of scumbags who are all determined to make their lives as miserable as possible apparently try to shake it up a little bit, because instead of Tony being the target for their little kidnapping-plan, itâs Steve and everyone who had been with hm had to be taken as well because theyâre witnesses.
And thatâs where Tonyâs appreciation ends, because it hadnât been only him and Steve, no â Peter had been with them. Both Steve and Tony had noticed that theyâre a lot more relaxed and likely to work on rebuilding their trust when Peter is with them, working as a puffer without him knowing it. But instead of spending the afternoon in an arcade (where Tony would obviously have won every single game, heâs sure of it), theyâre in some moldy basement, tied to chairs, all their technology rendered useless by a surprisingly good jamming transmitter.
Tony and Peter sit by the side while Steve is placed in the middle, tied up with something that actually manages to withstand his superstrength. Peter is getting antsy next to him, but Tony throws him a look that tells him to keep still. Itâs probably not surprising that this isnât Tonyâs and Peterâs first shared kidnapping experience â câmon, heâs Tony Stark, the list of people who want to do him harm is pretty much endless, and since the world found out about his personal intern, everyone makes the mistake of thinking Peter is an easy target. Peter knows the drill: as long as nobody lets it slip through that they know heâs Spider-Man, he wonât do a single thing that would give him away. Peter isnât a big fan of that rule, of course, but seeing that every adult in his life, plus Ned and two very concerned Ais agree with Tony, he does his best to follow it.
Someone punches Steveâs face again. That has to be number six or seven, but to be honest Tony isnât really counting, too busy trying to come up with an escape plan. âWhere is the Winter Soldier?â the man asks to the umpteenth time.
âIâm not gonna change my answer just because you keep asking,â Steve answers, spitting some blood on the ground. âI can do this all day.â
âHe really can,â Tony throws in, hoping that by pulling the attention on him he can give Steve a short break. âHeâs such a stubborn asshole, you wouldnât believe it.â The only reaction he gets is a somewhat annoyed look from Steve. Hey, Tony is trying to help, okay? In this state, he canât do anything else but talk.
They punch Steve again. So much for giving him a break. âWhere is the Winter Soldier?â
âDead,â he answers, the venom from the beginning of this little question game now gone and replaced with annoyance.
The manâs fist is already back in the air, when the woman who leans against a wall at the back shakes her head. âThis isnât working.â Before Tony can make a witty remark, sheâs nodding towards the other man whose primarily job has been to stand tall, cross enormous arms over his chest and look intimidating. âGo get it.â
The man grins, leaves the room, and comes back shortly after with a chunky box that looks like it might be older than Steve himself.
Peter nervously shifts in his seat, and when Tony looks over to him, the kid does his best to nod towards his own neck. His spidey sense.
âWhatâs that?â Tony asks.
âOh, donât worry,â the woman answers with a smile, walking towards the box, âitâs completely harmless.â She flips a switch. âWell⌠for us, at least. For enhanced people, howeverâŚâ Another switch gets flipped.
Immediately, Steve starts trashing around in his chair, trying to fight whatever that machine is doing to him â and failing. Tonyâs attention isnât on Steve, though. Itâs on Peter, who went rigid, eyes wide, biting down on his lip so hard that it turns completely white, doing his best to not show any signs of his pain.
Tony has to stop this. He doesnât know how, but he knows he has to do it soon. He has to stop it now. Â
âSo, letâs ask you once again,â the woman says in an agonizing slow way, apparently enjoying watching Steve squirm and finally being affected by what theyâre doing. âWhereâs the Winter Soldier?â
âDead,â Steve presses out.
This time, Steve canât suppress the scream that rips from his lungs, and tears spring into Peterâs eyes as he desperately tries to keep quiet.
âStop it!â Tony screams, his heart beating in his throat, a special kind of anxiety and urgency taking over, the one that always takes over when he sees Peter in pain. âStop!â
âBecause then Iâll tell you where he is!â That gets their attention, but it doesnât make them turn off the box. âAnd that box isnât working on me, so why keep it on?â
âOh, seeing as you just offered to give us some answers, I think itâs working just fine,â the woman says with a smile, coming over to him and Peter, the box underneath her arm. With every step that she comes closer, Peter stiffens more and more, reacting to the close proximity.
The woman notices Peterâs struggle.
âOh, are those tears?â she asks in mock-concern, lying a hand on Peterâs curls. Tony starts to growl, pulling against the robe around his arms and legs stronger than before. âAre you sad to see your childhood superhero in so much pain?â Suddenly, she grabs a handful of his hair, turning his head in Steveâs direction. âWatch closely. This is what happens in people arenât doing what theyâre told to do.â
If looks could kill, Tony wouldâve killed that woman at least five times already â but then he sees it: the blood running out of Peterâs ears.
The woman sees it, too. And, unfortunately, sheâs not stupid. âWhat-â
Peter decides to break the rule. Before the woman can finish her sentences, he pulls his head free from her grip and throws it forward, hitting her right in the chest (probably breaking at least five of her ribs from that punch alone) and sending her flying across her room until she crashes into the wall hard. She doesnât stand up again, her eyes are closed, and for Peterâs sake, Tony hopes sheâll live.
The men are confused for exactly one second, but itâs one second too long. Peter breaks free of his chains and jumps at them, knocking them out with one punch each (looks like Natâs training really paid off â or Peter is simply angry enough). However, Peterâs rampage doesnât end there. He turns towards the still-running box and Tony has never seen so much fury in the kidâs eyes. Peter picks up the box, holding it high above his head and smashes on the ground with a scream, destroying it in such a vicious way even Tony wouldnât be able to fix it.
Silence fills the basement. Well, silence except for Peterâs heavy breathing, Steveâs small whimpers, and Tonyâs heart thatâs thundering in his ears.
âKid,â Tony immediately says, trying to keep his voice as calm and soft as possible, even though heâs⌠well, Tony wouldnât say scared, because itâs Peter heâs talking about, but⌠sometimes, he forgets how strong the kid is. What he could do if he wouldnât choose being nice. And this reminded Tony of it. âPeter.â
âMâ. Sâarâ?â Peter mumbles, blinking and still swaying.
âYeah, kid, Mr. Stark. You did very good.â
Tonyâs eyes jump towards the blood thatâs now running down the sides of Peterâs neck. âIâm guessing your eardrums burst, that can effect your sense of balance. But your healing should take care of it in a matter of a few minutes.â Peter nods, which he obviously immediately regrets if the grimace on his face is anything to go by. âPeter? Hey, buddy. I need you to get me out of this, okay? Can you do that?â
âYeah,â he mumbles, slowly stumbling over to Tony, looking like a drunkard on his way home. Halfway on his way to Tony, he loses his balance, stumbling towards the wall but catching himself in the last moment, one hand against the wall â the wall that now has a little crater in it because the kid didnât control his strength. With lazy eyes, Peter blinks at the wall and looks at Tony.
Tony with his very much human bones that break way easier than a wall. Yeah, Tony had the exact same thought: thereâs a real chance that Peter might hurt him by accident. âI canât-â
âYou can,â Tony quickly says, ignoring his own fears in favor of reassuring Peter. âAnd you will.â
âYou wonât hurt me, Peter. You would never. I trust you, buddy.â
Peter looks him in the eyes for a second, as if he wants to reassure himself that he really wonât hurt Tony, and Tony gives him a small smile and nod. With a new surge of confidence, Peter bridges the rest of the way towards him and starts to slowly and carefully work on the robes that hold Tony captive. The entire time, Tony encourages him with gentle words, and as soon as the last robe fell to the ground, he pulls Peter against him, crushing him in a hug.
âIâm so proud of you,â Tony whispers, careful not to strain the kidâs no doubt overly sensitive ears.
âThat box sucked,â Peter mumbles in his shoulder, slouching against him in exhaustion.
Tony tightens his grip around Peterâs shoulders. âYeah, it really did. But you sent it to the equivalent to Technology Hell, so itâs fine.â Peter nods, and Tony allows him a moment to catch his breath. âListen, I know youâre exhausted, but you need to break Capsicle out of that chair.â
Peter nods again, and Tony helps him towards where Steve is sitting, his head lulled back and eyes closed, but his chest is slowly rising and falling. âHey, old man. I know you grandpas have the habit of falling asleep everywhere and at any time, but I canât carry two superheroes out of here. Câmon, Iâm obviously not the brawn of the team.â
Steve groans and it sounds exactly like his annoyed groan. Oh, he will be okay. âNext time, letâs stick with the original plan of going to the arcade. Itâll be more fun.â
Tony canât help but smirk. âWhat makes you think losing against me will be more fun?â
