What changed is that evil ralsei got mostly replaced with "Ralsei will die/get kidnapped and get replaced with Noelle". I remember the first months post ch3-4 release and I already saw a lot of people talk about how Noelle is going to be in the dark world and ralsei was gonna get kidnapped and be replaced, or straight up die at the end to open up the slot for the deer.

I've seen the most absurd things imaginable, people thinking Ralsei's outline in dark sanctuary (when the party stands behind walls) is close to yellow meaning Noelle is bound to replace them. Or the entire ch5 trailer and the shit with the trailer being edited and hiding Noelle under Ralsei.If I had to say, this belief that Ralsei will either turn evil or die is I think the main reason people don't bother to engage with them as a character. To most deltarune fans they're a character just waiting to be replaced by someone better, someone more real and therefore more important and worth their time, aka Noelle. This is why majority of Ralsei discourse is degenerated to object theory slop or treating her more like a character development prop for Kris and Susie, rather than their own character.

I blame this fallout on Toby deciding to make deltarune an episodic realase. There have been a lot of ups of it, such as surges of creative fan content, but fandom's perception of Ralsei is probably the worst thing that has come out of this.
