There is one very important thing I need people without major dietary restrictions to understand: the distress caused by allergies, celiac disease, and other food restrictions is largely not about the food.
Do I miss some foods I can't eat anymore without getting sick? Sure, but that's not what really bothers me. What bothers me is being excluded from a huge portion of human social life of which food is a crucial component. What bothers me is the stress and social stigma of trying to figure out what I can safely eat. What bothers me is the amount of extra work and cost that is required of me to identify, obtain, and prepare safe foods. What bothers me is people treating my needs like a nuisance, as though I chose to be like this - as though their brief inconvenience to check an ingredients list is unreasonable, when I deal with this every day of my life forever.
I don't miss the food that much. I miss not having to worry about what I eat. I miss freedom. I miss when trying new foods and new restaurants was fun instead of a minefield. I miss not having to plan my entire life around the need for safe foods.
Food is such a basic human need, and a lot of people don't really need to think about it. When your danger foods can be anywhere and everywhere, suddenly your entire life revolves around avoiding them, and it massively sucks. You get used to it and it's not a big deal most of the time, but then you go to a new restaurant, or your office has a potluck, or you've been invited to a party and suddenly it feels just as miserable and exhausting as it ever has.
Change is happening.
Abdul Al-Sayed beat the billionaires, beat AIPAC, and beat the odds. What a groundbreaking primary win in Michigan.
Seeing that we will be going to the nation of the Tsaritsa, who lost "her child" and all her descendants, will meet Odette who lost her mother figure, Pantalone who lost his only friend, Traveler seems to be in danger of losing Paimon and we will face the shade of death herself, I believe Snezhnaya will have a strong theme about the grief and/or fear of losing your loved ones.
i say yay and yippee a lot but i mean it. i always mean it. *looks into the distance pensively*

let’s all crash our cars into walls
see it’s literally fine if we just do it safely
Two things.
1. When AI collapses I wonder if a whole section of job market is going to open up bc a significant chunk of the worlds going to lack skill to write basic emails
2. RIP AI bros but I taught myself basuc coding in the span of 6 hours so I can get my virtual bugs to behave how I wanted them to. We are not the same and its sad you think youre anywhere near my level
July 29 / August 4, 2026 - More Flock surveillance cameras cut down, this time in Seaside, California and Winona, Minnesota. [video]
Now this might alarm you but nearly everything on the internet is being hosted in a data center. You are utilizing a data center right now reading this post
Everything in the digital world has physical infrastructure that supports it and has environmental impact and I don’t get why people act like that’s unique to AI
Magnitude. LLMs needs orders of magnitude more computing processing power than your average online service.
It's like saying "I don't know why anyone cares that they are building that super highway through a protected land when there is already a dirt road there"
For those of us in America (USA, USA, USA... sorry), think of doing some basic stuff on the internet (like tumblr, yay!) is like me driving just over 1 mile to go to the nearest grocery store.
Using something like a streaming service for the same amount of time, is like driving 10 miles to a grocery store.
Using an LLM is like driving 100 miles to a grocery store.
This is a very good analogy. And as the resident smug European, I need to add:
Using the old web (from early versions of social media to websites, RSS and blogs) is like walking a few blocks to get your groceries.
Genshin's official Twitter acc posted this and it's beautiful.

To Usher In the Perfect Dawn: An analysis of Snezhnaya's main theme and its instruments
As promised, here is my Snezhnaya theme analysis!
This writeup breaks down Snezhnaya's main theme's musical leitmotifs, lyrics, and the traditional instruments used. A description of these instruments can be found after the analysis of the leitmotifs and lyrics.
Before we start, I want to mention that the pianist for the livestream performance was Polina Osetinskaya, a Russian concert pianist. She was playing on a Steinway Model D concert grand, which you can have by buying it for the low price of $250,000 or by stealing it. Anyway, let's get into the music.
Long text below the cut!
apparently he’s my son now, idc how old he is.
forget everything anyone has ever told you on the matter the truest marker of adulthood is starting to hear the siren call of high quality kitchenware
to be clear you SHOULD buy that cast iron pan and you SHOULD buy that knife set and you SHOULD buy that fancy rice cooker and you SHOULD buy that novelty mug. high quality kitchenware is always worth it you’re literally gonna be using that almost every day
This seems like a good post to include this link on:
One buyout firm quietly collected Pyrex, Corelle, Instant Pot, and Oneida. Farberware is a name on a 200-year lease. And the pans still wort
Talking about popular kitchenware companies undergoing enshittification, and gives you a list of brands towards the end that are more reliable.
