i can understand the queer ppl example, because there are several (NOT ALL I KNOW THERE ARE EXCEPTIONS) instances of people saying that they use any pronouns for the sole reason of being too tired to educate cishet ppl about they/them or neopronouns, especially when more than half of the time they would find some bizarre way to misunderstand over and over. that doesn't necessarily excuse apologising for using pronouns other than they/them that are technically still correct, but at least there's an effort to respect said user of any pronouns. at least it doesn't (usually) stem from bigotry.
