I struggled keeping it clean.

I struggled getting it clean.

I would sincerely put in quite a bit of effort and be really proud of the progress I made. Then one of my parents would come check and see how I was doing.

"Well, you've still got a long way to go."

That sentence. I was like, 11 when my parents were saying that to me. It was crushing. All my pride and satisfaction with my work was completely gone. All my effort was worthless to them. All they saw what everything I didn't do.

At the age of ELEVEN, I knew that wasn't right. That wasn't fair. I swore to myself I would never invalidate someone's work like that.

Now, at 30, I catch myself thinking 'I cleaned up, but my apartment is still so messy.' and I flashback to standing in my bedroom as a child, hearing those fucking words from my parents.

'No. I wouldn't invalidate someone else's work. I'm not going to invalidate my own. I did good. I made progress.' and I'll list the things that I DID get done to myself.

You can’t say that you were relieved enough since those who didn’t know you personally were congratulating you whenever they get the chance to , only for you to deny that you and Doyoung were not in that type of relationship. You have also asked Jinah to take down all possible articles regarding the rumors between you and Doyoung .

“But won’t it be beneficial for our company ?” She asked “I mean , Doyoung is successful and popular in the business industry , that would give our company a boost of sales. He is good looking too “

You shook your head “He’s more than a marketing strategy to me , Jinah. He’s my best friend”

You got off your car after your driver opened the door for you and Jinah walked behind you. You were greeted with your employees lined up together inside and the moment you entered , they were bowing their heads as a form of greeting to you. You put on a bright smile and gave them a slight nod to acknowledge them .

No matter how much you’ve seen them do this every morning , you’ll never get used to it. It wasn’t really necessary for this type of greeting but they have insisted that it was part of their training since the day they started working at the company. You were the type of CEO who would rather have your employees work at ease and have an enjoyable working environment than have them feeling intimated by you. That is why whenever you have the chance , you try to have casual conversations with them . Those days rarely happen though since you’re either out of the country or having board meetings .

You walked towards the elevator with Jinah and she immediately pressed the number of your office which is on the top floor.

You heard her going through your schedule for the whole day as usual but one sentence made you heart skip a beat . Suddenly , you felt tense and anxious.

“You have a meeting with Jung Investment Real Estate at 3PM “ Jinah said

You opened your mouth to ask her how his company had something to do with your schedule but before you could even speak , the elevator dinged as a sign that you have reached the top floor.

You could not even greet back your employees a ‘good morning’ because you were too busy trying to calm yourself and briskly walking towards your office at the same time.

You pushed the doors open to your office and made your way to your seat. You didn’t notice that Jinah was looking at you worriedly. It was very unusual of you to ignore your employees whenever they would greet you .

You jumped slightly when you felt a gentle tap on your shoulder . You looked up to se Jinah standing beside you

“Hey” she started softly “Are you okay ?” She asked you with an obvious worry of look in her eyes.

You didn’t want Jinah to know that the meeting with him got you feeling anxious . So instead of telling her what’s wrong , you gave her a faint smile and a nod

“I just need my cup of coffee. Thank you “

She looked at you as if she was hesitant to leave you alone but you were already ‘busy’ reading the papers that were left on your desk. She whispered a small ‘okay’ and left you to give you some space. You let out a breath you didn’t know you were holding in and massaged your forehead.

After three years since your break up and not hearing anything from him , he’s finally back to make you feel like you’re gonna have the worst nightmare in your life. It made you feel confused and uncertain as you keep on thinking of the possible reasons as to why he suddenly wants to meet you. Maybe it’s really about business you thought to yourself.

Too preoccupied with your train of thoughts , you failed to notice that Jinah is already back with your cup of coffee . You thanked her and pretended that you were busy once again. You picked up the stacks of papers on your desk but Jinah caught you off guard with her question

“It’s him . Isn’t it ? “ Jinah asked carefully . She knew enough of your past with him so it didn’t take her long to figure out why you were acting different

You gave her a heavy sigh “How did it even happen ? “ you asked her , pertaining to how she was able to give him a chance to meet you personally for a ‘business meeting’ .

She was not sure how to answer but nevertheless , she told you the reason .

“It was last week when his assistant gave me a phone call that he wanted to request a personal one on one meeting with you. Apparently , he was interested in investing in our company“ she was cautious with her words but she continued on “It was Hyunho’s birthday and I knew you were busy so I didn’t have the chance to ask you about it . “

You gave her a pointed look “And you didn’t even tried to confirmed it to me the next day ?”

It was rare of you to speak sharply but she knew whenever it’s anything about him , you were sensitive . She felt as if she can’t speak right , afraid to say the wrong words and that it may trigger you but you were feeling impatient to get an explanation from her.

“I’m really sorry Y/N” she apologized “I was really going to call you but a family emergency came up so I forgot about it. It won’t happen again . I promise”

You couldn’t help but just sigh heavily . What a way start your day

It’s as if this day seems to be never ending . You can’t even count the cups of coffee you have consumed and asked Jinah to make for you. It’s safe to say that you’ve been feeling on edge because you can’t stop checking the time whether it’s on your phone , your watch or the office clock . People were also a bit cautious to enter your office and talk to you since they felt as if they were walking on eggshells around you.

You jumped slightly in your chair when the door to your office suddenly opened . You looked up only to see a smiling Doyoung holding up a bag of take-out of your favorite Chinese restaurant.

“Hey , loser. I bought you some food “ He said while walking up to you “I just thought we could have lunch together”

You check the time on your watch and your eyes went wide , your throat feeling tight and your heart stopped beating for a second . Only an hour left until you it’s time meet him .

As if sensing that something is bothering you , Doyoung quickly placed the bag of food on your table and walked around to kneel down in front of you .

“Is everything okay ? “ he asks you and gave your hand a gentle squeeze

You shook your head and stood up to make your way into your windows office to take in the view of Seoul city as a way to distract yourself from thinking too much

“I’m meeting him later”

To say that Doyoung was utterly shocked to hear you say those words were an understatement . Questions started to fill his head but he can only ask one thing.

“Are you ready ?” He asked you and silently stood behind you. You shook you head , letting out a shaky breath

You turn around to look at him , eyes filled with tears “I can’t do it , Doyoung”

He rushed to gave you a hug and in an instant you were sobbing on his chest. No words were spoken between the two of you . It was just you and you’re occasional sniffling were heard . He was giving you gentle pats on the back and caressing your hair softly.

You refused to let go of Doyoung , finding solace in his embrace. It’s been a long day and you wanted to go home already but you knew you had to face him eventually.

“What happened ?”

You explained to Doyoung how Jinah had forgotten about letting you know what’s about to happen today.

“I know I’m not ready but whether time may be in my favor or not , it’s inevitable for us to meet again” You let go of Doyoung and wiped your tears stained cheeks.

“I’ll go with you” he suggested . It’s tempting to say yes but you knew you have to face the man you hated , all by yourself .

You gave him a reassuring smile “It’s okay “

Doyoung felt worried and anxious at the same time and you can feel that so you laughed a little. You playfully pat his head

“If it makes you feel better , I’ll tell Jinah to give you a call in 15 minutes and you can come pick me up . I don’t care if we’re done talking or not , you can interrupt whatever conversation we’re having. Deal?”

“Okay” he pulled you into a quick hug and pulled back to look at you “You really look ugly when you cry”

“Yah!” you punched his arm and you laughed loudly when he exaggerated his reaction. He even crouched down on the floor while gripping his right arm

He gave you a playful glare “It’s gonna be okay” he comfortingly said and gave you a quick hug before pulling away again “The food’s getting cold . Let’s go eat”

Instead of giving him an answer , you heard your stomach growl as if agreeing with Doyoung. Both of you can only laugh at the situation “I’m starving. Come on” you said

You went to your meeting ten minutes earlier and what you saw inside made your throat feel tight and you can’t help but clench your fist and bite the inside of your cheeks to stop yourself from crying .

It seems like your presence didn’t go unnoticed by the individuals inside the room as they instantly pulled themselves away from each other and looked at you. The woman in his lap just gave you a smirk before she got off his lap but not without giving him a peck on the cheek .

You cleared your throat and willed yourself to walk steadily and you sat at the far end of the table. You were now facing him and his woman , the same woman you’ve caught him cheating on you .

You composed yourself and look at him dead in the eye , an overwhelming confidence suddenly taking over you.

“It’s quite unprofessional of you to bring an acquaintance with you when you personally asked for a one on one meeting , Mr. Jung” You raised your brow at him “also having an intimate moment in such place. Please try not to do it in my company”

He was about to speak when he was cut off by the blonde bimbo beside him “I’m not an acquaintance . I’m his girlfriend” she snapped at you

You paid no mind to her irritating high-pitched voice and kept staring at the man . As if knowing that you were intentionally ignoring her , she stood up and slammed her hands on the table .

“Are you ignoring me right now ?” She spat angrily and crossed her arms “I can’t believe this”

You gave a glance her way before clasping your hands together and spoke “I don’t know if you’re entirely aware right now but you’re in a professional setting Ms. Jung - “

“She’s not a Jung” he suddenly cut you off. His deep voice making you feel mixed emotions . You were caught off guard for a second but you quickly composed yourself

“My apologies , Mr. Jung “ you said apologetically before glancing back at the woman again who was watching your interaction with a frown on her face

“I just want to keep this as professional as possible and I would deeply appreciate it if there were no interruptions. ” you checked your watch

“I can only guarantee you 15 minutes for this meeting as I have other personal errands to attend to , Mr. Jung”

He whispered something on her ear and her eyes widened . She quickly left the room with the door slamming behind her. You let out a sigh of relief when she was out of sight. You could barely stay in the same room as this man , and her being here would definitely make you lose it.

“Shall we start ?” You asked him

Your eyes widened in surprise when he quickly stood up . You heard his chair screech and he’s now walking towards you with big and hurried steps.

You did not have enough time to react before he pulled you off your seat and hugged you tight to his chest . It was so quiet and you can hear your heart beating so loudly. You did not know what to do so you pushed him off you harshly.

“Mr. Jung I-“ you were cut off by him

“Don’t call me that” he told you with a disapproving look on his eyes “My names Jaehyun , not Mr.Jung , Y/N“

The way he naturally calls you by your name has you feeling small and vulnerable. The walls you’ve built all those years were now useless. You took a step back and tried your best not to let him hear the tremble in your voice. You faked your confidence and held your head high. You looked straight into his eyes

“Mr. Jung , I believe this meeting is over. I refuse to have unprofessional encounters like this within the premises of my company” you picked up your things and walked to the door “Goodbye , Mr. Jung”

Before you could even open the door , the words that came out of his mouth made you recall the hatred you’ve been trying to contain

“He’s mine isn’t he ?” he asked you in a gentle voice “Hyunho is my son “

You turn around to slap him “You don’t have the right to call him yours”

He was shocked at your actions . The way you reacted was unanticipated . He touched his cheek which you slapped . He winced slightly but he did not say anything. It’s definitely going to bruise later. He doesn’t care though . He knows he deserves it

You were breathing heavily now and you were visibly shaking from built up anger “Hyunho is mine and mine only. He is my son and no one else’s”

“Y/N please -“

You did not give him the chance to talk “No. You don’t get to call me that. You don’t have the right to call me by my name . You don’t have the right to call Hyunho your son. We’re nothing but strangers . You are nobody to me as I am to you. “ you inhale deeply to calm yourself

“You lost the right to come close to me and my son since that day happened and I’m planning to keep it that way”

He was taken aback by your words but nevertheless , he was insistent on knowing the truth

“At least please tell me “ he pleaded with tears in his eyes “He’s my son isn’t he ?”

He knew nothing about your pregnancy before so you just shook your head and turn your back against him . You refuse to answer him

“I already told you , he’s my son. He’s nobody else’s but mine” And with those words , you left the room as quickly as you can . Jaehyun felt aggravated and confused so punched the wall next to him , not caring about his wrist being injured nor his knuckles bleeding.

He wanted answers and he failed to get the truth out of you. The only thing he knows is that he’s still in love with you and he’s willing to do everything to make things right between you .

“Hey” you greet him when you finally came to stand behind him

He let out a scream of surprise before hugging you tightly “Oh my god Y/N. I was so nervous I did not even notice you coming into your office” he said

“Are you okay ? How was it ?”

You can’t bring yourself to talk so you just let out a sigh . You plopped yourself down on your couch , your body suddenly feeling heavy. You closed your eyes to help yourself relax.

Doyoung being the observant person he is , he sat down beside you and held your hand “How about some coffee?” he asked you

You giggle and clasp your hands tighter together “I’ve had too many cups of coffee for today”

“Well , let’s go get Boba then” he suggested and you opened your eyes quickly . Your mind completely forgetting about what happened earlier because of Doyoung mentioning of getting bubble tea together .

“At our favorite place ?” You asked excitedly , eyes wide like a child who got her present in Christmas day.

He chuckled at your expression and gave you bop on your nose “Yes. At our favorite place”

You hop off the couch and grabbed your phone and Doyoung’s hand , dragging him out of the door excitedly while repeatedly saying ‘bubble tea ‘

Your days could go worse but you know Doyoung would be there to make everything feel better

she attended his graduation from sopa and this is where mark recognised her. (apparently with another sasaeng (jaehyuns??) she followed mark to sopa and waited from him a lot of times, and other people said mark used to ring his parents if he got worried / and get picked up by staff because of this (even when jeno/jaemin would travel on their own to and from dorms) at this time he was 16/17 when she started

Jeno's sasaeng didn't do much to him (to extent as MIMH) though she did help MIMH finding the NCT dorms and wait for them to come out.

yeri (RV) once blocked her camera/lense and she got angry and made up malicious rumours about her, calling her a sl*t etc which caused backlash to yeri
