This is probably pretty obvious but I’m thinking about how a-ya’s urban legend reflects his social behaviour… He doesn’t really think of the people he interacts with as friends. Not even C-ta, who’s known him since they were kids and is always (too much) there for him

(Perhaps C-ta’s obsession is even part of why A-ya isolates so much. If that is what friendship is like, he doesn’t really want any part in it.)

A-ya isolates, he’s a child playing alone, reading his stories and plotting mean rumours (which involve other people but it’s still just a game for him and him alone). So the demise game was like here you go. You have to play a game by yourself. You’ll be good at it.

Before I read shuuenpro I thought the song was about d-ne but I like knowing more about b-ko’s character and her motivations. Although it’s also interesting to think about whether d-ne represents something about herself she doesn’t like. I.e. What is there ISN’T anything under the mask? What is this is all she is? An empty shell who only knows how to be cool and popular?

my ideas were spiritomb, banette, rotom, hisuian zorua, runerigus, and impidimp!

i think he’d be obsessed with spiritomb because it has so much lore and is filled with like. over a hundred evil cursed souls.

banette is a “pitiful doll that was discarded by its owner” which is basically a-ya and c-ta’s relationship issues in a nutshell.

rotom because a-ya spends all of his time texting on an ancient flip phone and i think he would like a little electric buddy causing mischief!

hisuian zorua came back from the dead and is filled with resentment and malice, which is part of how i interpret the events following a-ya’s death in the main story (and is something i explore in my fanfic).

runerigus is a stone tablet that got possessed by the raw power of the drawings on it, which i think he’d find neat, and also it just reminds me of the concept of the notebook of demise anyway, which we know he’s really into
