feeling the need to start a new fringe theory in shuuenproâŚ.. the second novelâs end (after his chapter) is actually the result of a-ya using the monkeyâs paw wishes since itâs exactly as he would have wished it to be
like itâs too too too convenient. a-ya has an entire little chapter starter about how he wishes he could be a dark hero instead of just a background character in someone elseâs world, and then he gets that chance and doesnât fumble it? heâs cleverly able to hold back from using a single of the monkeyâs paw wishes despite his dissatisfaction with his life? coincidentally, after the curtain falls, itâs revealed that they all survived and tricked you, the reader? he gets to explain and monologue away at all these etc thought experiments and they solved it through the power of communication, and a-yaâs actions had meaningful and positive consequences? thatâs a power fantasy for him
like, I donât think the shuuenpro characters worked together to trick the reader, even if theyâre much better about communication in the second novel. I think thatâs a convenient fantasy a-ya constructed. that doesnât necessarily mean that itâs not happening â it could be that the âgood endâ that they were able to achieve got yoinked from another timeline (by the mechanism of the monkeyâs paw)
