Inter-Dimensional Chicanery

So I’ve been getting a lot of questions about the lyrics in the heavy metal song that Heinous listens to in “Monster Bash.” 

The lyrics are a fervent denial of the feminism that sprouted in the latter half of 20th century America, though they are not totally aligned with the typical, near-puritanical view of the patriarchy that preceded it. (Or, at the very least, the current progressive view of that patriarchy, most often portrayed through entertainment.) They are laced with nuance, quizzically (and positively) alluding to civil rights struggles in various parts of the world, while still demeaning the gender-related progress that various cultures have pushed through, legally or non-legally, throughout the past several decades. They are an odd combination of empowerment and belittlement, so it is no surprise that Heinous – a character driven by an outward desire for conformism but who obviously struggles with her own id-ego conflict – would pick such a song as her rallying cry.
