what i absolutely adore about ancient indian scriptures like the mahabharata is how dark, ‘dusky’ skin is portrayed as infinitely beautiful. look at krishna. at satyavati. at draupadi. at arjun. it feels so amazing to read these in a world where the standard of beauty is white skin. reading these writings almost makes me feel exhilarated, like a child carrying out a rebellious act.

This is so cute! Tattoos are heavily opposed in the south Asian community thinking its low, unprofessional, ugly.. specially for women. So seeing women with tattoos get accepted by family members and other people make me happy.
