“Suit yourself,” Aki replied with a shrug, though he had half a mind to drag Xu down to see Kadowaki himself; she was certainly shaky, and likely not fit for duty in her present state. “It wasn’t intended as a slight, you know.” He paused, poured a small cup of hot tea from the carafe and edged it toward Xu.

“Here. Drink. It’ll make you feel better. So…I understand things didn’t go quite according to plan, in Trabia?” Aki inquired with a lifted eyebrow. Of course he knew the answer to that already, he’d read the reports and heard a firsthand account from Nida - but, this was the first he’d seen of Xu since she and Nida had returned from the mission.

You know she feels like hot garbage when she actually just… does what Aki tells her to, taking the cup and sipping gingerly. 

“This tastes like shit.” 

It’s as close as an apology for snapping at him as Aki is going to get from her; she drinks the tea regardless of her opinion on it. It’s actually not that bad, and it does help. Slightly. 

Even if it could use more honey, less tasting like grass.

However, she still reaches out with one hand, dragging the trash bin a little closer to her legs, because she’s still not one-hundred-percent sure she’s not going to vomit. 

Xu snorts briefly, taking another mouthful of the tea. “Not according to plan is an understatement.” It’s a miracle both of them came back in one piece, and not missing limbs or something. 

“When I want your opinion, I’ll give it to you.” 

Right now, what she wants to do is simply lay down face-first on the hideous carpet, and possibly die. Not listen to someone else tell her she looks terrible, ashen and nauseous.
