Hey, everybody. Though I know a lotta folks that have followed this blog may not even be active on the platform anymore, I’ve been feeling nostalgic lately, and wanted to kind of take a peek at whatever the first post on this account was… and wouldn’t you know it, this blog is over 11 years old. Eleven.
I can’t believe it’s already been a decade and some change. I don’t even know how to really process that??
The reblog here is the very first picture I ever did for this thing, back when AskBlogs were on the rise and everyone was just goin CRAZY making these things. I wanted to take part in the fun, and I’m really glad I did, because these silly asks and answers gave me life for the better part of my college years, and I had no idea that it would just kind of turn into a sort of Sonic-and-Eggman sitcom blog by total happenstance. Once that happened, this thing really took off and made a lot of people laugh. Made a lotta people smile. That was pretty dang cool.
Every so often, I’ll run into someone on twitter, or while streaming on twitch, and they’ll be like “oh wait, that one askblog was YOU”, and the fact that it still happens on occasion truly speaks to how much this silly thing mattered to people. I wish I had the energy and free time to get right back into updating it, just like the old days, but I don’t know if the vibe is really the same as it once was. The internet has changed a lot over ten years, you know.
That said, I look over all the blogs I personally followed, and how some of them have been totally inactive for 2 years, five years, or even more than that, and I can’t help but feel a little heartbroken about it. Even with everything quieted down, I still care a lot about this innocuous little hobby of mine. I would love to just keep doin stuff for fun. And, honestly, I probably will. It’s just hard to get started on anything these days – a sentiment most other creatives and artists likely relate to.
I’m not sure who will take the time to read this little spur-of-the-moment article of mine, but, thank you for making it this far if y'did. I appreciate it.
No matter how much time passes, I’ll always try to do something fun every once in a while - just like the hedgehog himself, i may be too stubborn to truly let this thing go.
