So very good so very good so very good. Basically what would happen if Beth getting kidnapped was just a minor blip in their journey and the two of them just kept going on like they were. This is my favorite Bethyl fic of all time. Characterization is AMAZING. Fluff is fluffy. Smut is yummy. Pet cat is featured. The option to not share a bed but choosing to anyways is featured. Beth mourning losing Judith (which is something we don’t talk about nearly enough???) is featured. Daryl getting a cold (it’s a little more serious than that but whatever) and actually needing to be taken care of - and more importantly, accepts being taken care of - by Beth is featured. What more could you ask for?

As someone who’s not a big non-apocalypse Bethyl AU girl, I was shocked to find that this was my second fav Bethyl fic of all time but idk man I just wanted it to keep going forever. Daryl is a misunderstood biker with a heart of gold, Beth is an 18 year old farmer’s daughter who feels she’s met her match. It also includes cunnilingus which I find is criminally absent from many a Bethyl fic.

Okay so this is supposed to be like a smutty one shot but I would say skip the smut and stay for the concept. What I like is the way their dynamic was framed. That Daryl goes to church just to be with Beth without being judged. That Beth knows he’s going to come to church with her every week even though he’s never participated and has no reason to be there. That Beth still dresses up for services in the apocalypse. It just feels right.

So, just to take stock: not only did Daryl fuck his best friend’s barely legal babysitter in a fit of epically lapsed judgement, he also managed to inadvertently slip a couple stray swimmers past the rubber and knock that babysitter up with some unholy Dixon spawn. And she wants to keep it. And she wants him to co-parent it with her.
It’s like a porno and a rom-com had a baby and that baby grew up to be a public service announcement.
I dare say this is neither a porno or a rom-com but rather an extremely accurate telling of a non-apocalypse setting Bethyl tale. Daryl feels like he reacts in a way that you expect Daryl to. As does Beth. And Hershal. And Glenn. And Maggie. And dare I say even Merle (although he’s just the slightest bit less creepy in this but he’s still Merle don’t get it twisted - Beth just domesticates him a bit with her badass Beth-ness). Again, I’m not a big zero-zombie Bethyl AU person so the fact that I really enjoyed this should vouch for it.
