See, the problem with “write what you know” is that WAY TOO MANY writing teachers translate that into “write what you have personal experience of” and people get stuck in really bad writing classes where the teacher will only accept various degrees of memoir. When “write what you know” should really mean “write about things you’re interested in and know stuff about, and do research to cover the holes.”

So, after listening to the Hamilton soundtrack for like the fifteenth time I decided to look up Hamilton’s last words. I’ve never realized how accurate the characterization was until I read, essentially, “He kept talking for hours after getting shot. Nobody knows his exact last words because he wouldn’t stop talking. The man with so much to say refused to go quietly.”
