I don't think Kate The Chaser being unpopular is caused by misogyny
Does the creepypasta fandom have a misogyny problem? Yes. Female characters have been treated horribly by the fandom and very much still are, we know this, so i wont deny that Kates treatment is at least in part rooted in misogyny
But Kate isn't overlooked as a proxy entirely because she's female, its also because Slender The Arrival is overlooked as part of the Slenderverse in general.
Whenever anyone brings up this game its only ever "Kates a character from the games btw" or "Did you know it was written by the guys who made Marble Hornets?" and thats IT. Nothing about the story, or the characters, or the locations, or what it adds to the Slenderman Mythos, just a passing "yeah it was cool" then SILENCE. Even with that, out of all the characters to come from Slender The Arrival Kates the character that is talked about the MOST.
Charlie Matheson Jr is also a proxy and has such an interesting story and lore implications, but no one ever acknowledges him. CRs character is just as tragic as Kates at times but his story is never discussed. Lauren doesn't have much characterisation in game but theres still so much potential there that the fandom could discuss and build upon but no one ever does. Even Kates discussions tend to be surface level, people always mention she's who you play as in 8 pages and that she was taken to be a proxy but never anything from between those two points or her relationships with any of the other characters
idk, I just dont think you can claim a female character is ignored because of misogyny when the entire game she comes from is equally as forgotten, maybe even moreso
Slender The Arrival is such a good game man i wish the fandom acknowledged it more π
