i've been out of the closet and living openly trans for 10 years now. i'm 1 year post-op (top surgery, august 2023) and i've been injecting testosterone (0.25 ml jan 2021 - jan 2022, 0.35 ml jan 2022 - present), for 4.5 years.

due to adhd my consistency with taking my t shot can be affected sometimes and i will miss shots consecutively and unintentionally. this, as noted, isn't intentional or because i'm hesitant about injecting—it's just adhd getting in the way of a routine.

i've been plenty late on a bunch of shots over the weeks and months but i still take it.

i write this to say thanks and also to say the trans masc and forcemasc communities are great and have so much potential and i am glad to be a part of it, glad to write and express myself and share here and have it appreciated by other men and boys. that really means a lot to me, like a lot.

and it's incredibly masculine to be vulnerable, to be forthcoming with honesty, sensitivity and decency.

you know what i mean? of course, you get me. you love testosterone and you love the way masculinity embraces you and plays out all across your body--yeah, you get it.

you and i both know just how good testosterone is and how good it feels to let it flood your body and enhance everything you've got, right?

not in the slightest! always remember that when we're presenting gender and expressing it, there are certain things that have assigned meanings to them. certainly an assigned meaning for skirts is that they're widely feminine, only worn by women. but in all honesty we must move away from that kind of presumptive thinking about people we don't know. that's my feeling about clothes and people expressing themselves.

and so the same goes for hair, imo. the length of it matters not even a little bit in factoring in your gender and how "well" you're doing it. anyone can have long hair, anyone can have short hair, and they're not inherently gendered, it's just become social constructs around hair and style and personal expression.

if you truly feel most comfortable with long hair, absolutely go with it.

i think a lot about this because i went so long, cutting my hair short, maintaining an undercut, all because i thought that's all i really could do. as in, all that would really suit me or affirm what i thought i wanted at the time.

but it turns out deep down, though it had been beaten down by other people... existing inside, still, i had the effeminate person i'd always felt and wanted to be naturally come into full focus.

the more i ignored the cruelty i'd faced around my expression and appearance, the stronger i felt, and long hair feels beyond affirming, natural, sexy, comfortable... all for me, with me in mind.

one of the most anti-fascist things you can do is continue your hormones knowing full well they hate it. take them if you've got them. fuck every last one of those worthless, disposable carcasses that wield their weapons against us.

certainly my transness and hrt are among what i am grateful for.
