If anyone had told him when he was younger that he would be running around Beacon Hills with a bunch of teenagers he would have laughed in their face. Now, well here he was, in a town with a bunch of teenagers that were either bitten werewolves, a family of hunters who killed his family and a banshee.
Stiles was human but Derek sometimes questioned it but not in a bad way? Okay, maybe a little bit but he was so different and young and his damn mate and he was still reeling from that. A seventeen year old kid who can’t keep his mouth shut and is snarky, oh did he mention get on his nerves?
But he endured and he would stop and stare when Stiles would laugh, head thrown back or a full smile that actually lit up his eyes and he was beautiful. So, he was screwed but that was his life.
Derek stared at his door as he heard footsteps running up the stairs and he knew something was up. He just raised a brow as Stiles and Allison burst in, Stiles breathing heavily and Allison had a wide eyed look on her that didn’t suit her. She was usually in control and confident in herself so this was throwing him off.
“What did you do?” Derek demanded.
“NOBODY DIED!” Stiles yelled and Derek was dumbfounded.
“What kind of answer is that?”
“Look it doesn’t matter,” Allison piped up before Stiles could give him some form of snarky reply and Derek huffed out a breath as he glared, “We have a situation on our hands here.”
“So we may or may not have touched something we shouldn’t have,” Allison admitted weakly and Derek knew immediately he was going to get a headache today.
“Look, there may be a cursed creature running around because we wanted to be useful and we decided to, you know, do research,” Stiles started and Allison nodded eagerly beside him before she took over.
“And we went looking for a book that was going to be helpful!”
“But we didn’t know it was cursed!” Stiles exclaimed quickly and Derek growled in frustration because of course if anyone would get them in this situation it was going to be Stiles and his helpless need to try and prove he is helpful even if he is human and Derek knew he was going to have to sit him down and talk about those fears soon.
“We need to get the pack together and fix this, fast.”
And this was going to be his week Derek huffed as he glowered at them. It was nice to have a pack again and he did actually grow fond of these wild teens but he would never admit that outloud. If Stiles ever found out he would forever tease him about it and Derek didn’t need that. Even if the idea of having Stiles by his side and teasing him about this years later seemed appealing.
He really needed to figure this out.
“Fine, call everyone and you two, we are going to talk about this later.”
The pair of them gave him a sheepish look before they sprung into action and Derek just shook his head. Well, he can say he can never get bored around here.
