Hey, if you have no choice but to infodump, always use characters, never the narrator to tell things to the reader.

This way, if you got something wrong and someone points it out later, you can argue that this character in particular was lying/misremembering/was ignorant of the exact details. You, the author, obviously knew what the real facts were all along.

I've finished watching Maya and the Three again and I'm driving my brother insane with an au idea. Ironing out the details still but here's what I have so far:

• Camazotz saw through Lady Micte's act towards Mictlan about sacrificing Maya. He offers to be her ally in keeping Maya safe when the time comes for Mictlan to fall.

• After news reaches the gods that the Tecas will fight for their princess, Camazotz and Micte agree it is time. Zats is told to convince Maya to come to the Underworld to spare her tribe and the others from Mictlan's wrath.

• Maya agrees, only requesting to see her brothers' funeral rites through before following him.

• Mictlan is more than pleased to see her

• Micte and Camazotz use the chance to spring their attack, none of the other fallen gods bothering in aiding their lord.

• Zats, of course, enters the fight to help his father

• Maya joins for the opportunity to free the tribes

• Together they weaken Mictlan for Maya to deliver the last blow, she frees them all from his tyranny.

• Micte assumes the throne alone, opening the court to the fallen gods, and gifting Camazotz his original position of general. She explains her relations with King Teca and pleads for Maya to stay in the Underworld with her as Princess of the Dead
